Ajax's Story
Ajax had a rough start in life being found as a pup dumped in a rural ditch along with his sibling Comet. Fortunately they were found by a caring cop who actually took them in and cared for them! Thank you sir! He got them healthy and to a good weight, got their vaccines and then seeked out help finding homes. The local shelter was full so a plea went out for rescue or adopters. Sadly no one responded. I felt that since this cop stepped up and did the right thing by these pups, that he should be supported. I did not want him to feel that he was 'stuck' with them for doing the right thing|so our rescue stepped up! We hoped by doing so that we would be helping the pups to find their forever homes. But sadly that wasn't in the cards. They had gone directly to our vet and unfortunately were diagnosed with a rare and highly contagious virus called oral papilloma. The pups had to be isolated from other dogs til the virus was entire resolved which took almost four months! Needless to say, being isolated they missed out on a lot of social experiences and consequently weren't scooped up when cute young pups. Thankfully in spite of their specific needs, a true kelpie person took a chance on Comet and adopted him! I am happy to report he is living his best life now! Ajax however is still in need! A kelpie is a working breed and needs a job for a purpose in life and an outlet for their drives! For Ajax having a Kong to chew on non stop helps calm his drives but he would very much benefit from regular exercise as an outlet for his energy. So, if you are a runner or hiker or herder, Ajax may be the perfect fit! Ajax is probably right around 2 yrs old and right at about 35# but he is very strong and doesn’t have the best leash manners! He is very smart and learns fast but until real training is in progress, he can be somewhat of a bull in a china closet! Ajax is a very sweet boy and I don't think he has a mean bone in his body! So far he has been dealt a pretty bad hands of cards but hopefully the next deal will be much more of a winning hand for him!!! Although Ajax may be somewhat of a project to start with, the end product should be a stunning intelligent devoted dog who will be very appreciative of someone taking a chance on him! Ajax may truly be a diamond in the rough!!!<br/>P. S. Absolutely no cats!
