Aida - A Potatah's Story

Aida - Female - DOB- 4/3/2020

Oh Hi There!!! My name is Aida, My foster family sometimes calls me Potatah, or Sweet Potatah, or even Baked Potatah (that's when I'm asleep in the yard on my back letting the sun hit my tummy). I'll actually respond to anything you say- because I just love humans of all shapes and sizes.

I came to NALA Rescue back in Spring of 2022, and boy did I come in riding the hot mess express. I was terrified of other dogs, extremely underweight, had infections all over- ear, bladder, lady bits, spay incision- and was utterly confused about life. As I settled into my foster home and they started helping me get better, everything in my world got better!!!

Don't get me wrong, I love my foster family, and they have taken care of me for yearssssss- but these people are really really really busy, and I would like to spend more time lounging on the couch and taking as many car rides as you can fit into your schedule. In fact, I would even bypass couches and pick the car if I had it my way!

Yup, you heard it here, I CALL SHOTGUN!!!! OH OH- I'm really scared of Nerf Guns and Water Guns, so the only time I want to hear the word "gun" is in reference to the front passenger seat of a vehicle.

Now I know what you are thinking, "why have I been in rescue for so long?" Ummmm, I dunno? I've been told that I might look 'too pitbully', which makes a lot of people nervous......... you guys.... Nerf Guns Make ME NERVOUS!!!!!

My Foster Family made a list of what THEY WANTED to be labeled as "Good Qualities and Bad Qualities", but I said NO! It just needs to be labeled as "Aida's Qualities", and then we will let the people decide if my authentic and unapologetic self is a match for someone out there (hopefully we can find someone). Thank you for sharing my story!!

-I am Kennel Trained
-I do not need a kennel once familiar with the home and schedule, however if You are more comfortable with me in a kennel, I am fine with it as well.
-If YOU leave a roll of paper towels on the edge of the counter (or somewhere that I can reach said roll of paper towels) This is a you problem, you shouldn't have left them taunting me like that.
-I am Potty Trained..... but with my past history of lady bit infections, I can't hold my urine more than 12 hours, I don't have the pelvic floor to support that.
-I am leash/harness trained..... but I kind of get overly excited when I see those items and it might take a few minutes to calm me down in order to gear me up.
-Car rides, YES!!!!!!!!!! You actually don't even need to go anywhere, I just loooove hanging out Shotgun.
-Speaking of Gun, my therapist is trying to get me to talk about this, and I don't want to. Either respect my feelings of no guns, or move along, it's not gonna happen.
-Since You will be in charge of my personal hygiene: warm soapy baths and water are awesome, I roll over on my back when you trim my nails, feel free to brush my teeth and wipe my ears, I do NOT care, because your touching me makes me happy.
-Since we are on the topic of touching...... I REALLLLY don't want other dogs touching me, it's a personal thing and I don't want to go into detail. Some people don't like mouth noises/chewing noises, some people don't like it when they hear the word 'moist', and I don't like it when another dog touches me. I shouldn't have to explain myself, I just don't like it. Again, respect my boundaries and I will respect the boundary you put in between me and that roll of paper towels.
-The sporting/hunting dog in me gets AMPED up when I see a rabbit, squirrel, cat, bird, etc. If I see small animals, the outcome of that unprovoked visualization of small animal lies in your response time. Read between the lines- If you have a chicken farm, you might not have chickens after I arrive.
-In Summary, I am a loving and snuggly girl who wants to choose sunbathing and couch cuddles, but I come with baggage (You do too, this is a judgment free zone).

If you have questions or are interested in a NALA Rescue dog you MUST APPLY TO WWW.NALARESCUE.ORG to be considered! If approved we will reach out to you at the point but please remember to be patient as we are all volunteers. If the dog is posted, it is available for adoption! Once the dog is adopted he/she will be removed from this page. So please NO inquiries if this dog is available.
