ADOPT YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND, DENNIS's Story
Dennis’s story began at Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield, where he was rescued and given a second chance at life. While we may not know much about his past, one thing is crystal clear — this boy is full of love, heart, and personality.

Dennis is a friendly, wicked smart pup who thrives on connection. He adores going on walks with his two fur foster siblings and absolutely lights up for car rides — they’re a must-have in his world! He shares a particularly special bond with Doug, who is blind, showing just how intuitive and gentle he can be.
He’s the kind of dog who will choose his person and love them endlessly. Cuddles? Yes, please. Toys and treats? Always. Dennis already knows sit, wait, leave it, enough, and back-up — and he’s this close to mastering “paw.” He loves puzzle toys, his snuffle mat, and spending time outdoors exploring.

Dennis would do best with a semi-active family who can provide consistency and mindful movement. He does need support maintaining strength in his back leg to encourage healthy muscle development — nothing intense, just steady, thoughtful exercise. Prior to rescue, Dennis suffered a severe injury (a broken pelvis). Two orthopedic surgeons evaluated him and recommended against surgery since it had already healed.

Because of his curious (and slightly mischievous) nature, Dennis should be crated when home alone. And yes, he can be a bit of a drama king — but honestly, aren’t we all?

If you’re looking for a loyal, smart, affectionate companion with a big heart and a little flair for theatrics, Dennis might just be your perfect match.
