Adira's Story

She takes atenolol each day to help slow her heart rate and keep her comfortable. Despite medical management, her prognosis is sadly limited, and we expect she may have anywhere from approximately 6 months to 2 years left.

Adira is also neurologically wobbly and has an unsteady gait, causing her to stumble at times. It doesn't slow her spirit, though. She still enjoys exploring, playing, and being close to the people she loves.

She can be timid and shy when meeting new people, but with a little patience and kindness, she blossoms into an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion. Once you've earned her trust, she'll love you with her whole heart. Adira does wonderfully with other dogs and cats and would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can simply enjoy being part of a family.

We know hospice adoption is one of the hardest decisions a person can make. Opening your heart to a dog when you know your time together may be limited takes a truly special kind of person. But what Adira needs isn't a lifetime—she just needs love for the lifetime she has.

Our greatest wish is for Adira to spend her remaining months or years surrounded by comfort, companionship, and happiness instead of waiting in foster care. She deserves to know what it feels like to have a family of her own, to sleep in a cozy bed, to enjoy walks, belly rubs, and quiet evenings with the people who cherish her.

If you have room in your heart for a dog who will undoubtedly leave paw prints on it forever, Adira is waiting to meet you.
