ADDISON's Story

From Addison's foster, Addie is such a special girl ?? while very timid, she is showing clear signs of confidence building and I believe she has the potential to do great in someone's home. She will need an adopter who is comfortable with a fearful dog, who is patient and understands that good things take time, and who is willing to be respectful and move at Addie’s speed when building trust with her. She will require an adopter that understands her fearful behaviors and understands that she will run away if she becomes nervous or scared. They will need to be able to commit to precautionary measures in order to prevent her escaping. She is potty trained, crate trained, and is learning basic house manners. She LOVES to chew and will chew on random items, but strongly prefers bones and will only chew on bones if they are available. Additionally, she has a special toy that has a heartbeat in it that she strongly prefers to sleep with. She destroys stuffed animals, but only snuggles with her stuffed heartbeat puppy. Addie thrives off of positive reinforcement and will benefit greatly from a patient home so that she can learn that she is safe and to open up completely. Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving with you. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.
