Addison's Story

Hi there! (wiggle, wiggle!) I'm Addison, but I also answer to Addy which is what my foster parents sometimes call me. My most favorite things to do are chew my toys (the stuffed ones are the best!), play with the resident dog here, and give kisses. Oh boy, do I love giving kisses! I will kiss your hands, fingers, elbows, sleeves, pants, shoes, chin, ears – pretty much anything you will let me! (giggle) My foster mom says I’m goofy and tells me to stop, but I really like her so I give her one more kiss to let her know I heard her. I'm a very cuddly girl and if you sit down with me I will try to get as close as I can to you so you can scratch my ears (ahhh), give me hugs, and just relax together. I live in my foster home with Wrigley, the resident Yellow Lab. He and I look a lot alike, which I think is funny because my foster mom confuses us all the time! I have a little bit longer and whiter hair than Wrigley, and smaller ears too. But don’t let the size of my ears fool you. I will listen to every call and “good girl!” you want to tell me! I have a lot of energy, which is good because there is so much to do around here! My foster parents have given me so many toys to play with. I switch from one to another all day long! My favorites are the stuffed, squeaky toys. It’s really fun to find the stuffing and squeaky “prize” inside! (giggle, giggle!) I also really enjoy the red Kong toy because it bounces when I drop it and then I try to pounce on it! When I get tired, I like to curl up for long naps. I do have a crate, but I don’t choose to go in there. My foster parents give me a nudge and tell me to “go in your bed” when they have to leave the house, and for bedtime. I never fuss or fight them when it’s time to go in my crate. It’s not such a bad place! Guess what?! I already know “Sit” and “No”! My foster parents are teaching me to “Stay” and “Break” when it’s time to eat. I'm even learning to follow nicely when I'm on my leash. I do better on the leash wearing Wrigley’s pinch collar, because I still pull and I’m a strong, healthy dog. I like to learn things because it means I get treats and ohhh how I love treats! Yummy yum YUM!!! Treats are so much better than the food my foster parents are feeding me! (giggle) I guess you could say I’ve been a bit of a picky eater, but my foster mom says maybe I used to be a “grazer” in my old home. You could put your hand near my bowl while I’m eating if you want to. I don’t have any food aggression at all, even when Wrigley tries to eat my food when I walk away! (geez, what a piggy!) Being outside is fun but when I’m ready to come in, I just wait quietly by the door until you let me in. I'd love to see how many kisses I can give you! (wiggly wag!) So won't you come and visit me? We only adopt our animals out near Chicagoland... we are sorry but we cannot accept any out of state applications. In the meantime, Please check our events page at http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org to find where this kissy girl may be shown this weekend. If you are interested in adopting Addison, you must send an application or email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org prior to a Saturday Adoption Event so we know you plan on attending. If we do not receive any communication from you, she may be adopted out at our event prior to 1pm if the perfect home comes along :-) We look forward to speaking with you!
