Addie's Story

Hi! My name is Addie and I am looking for a forever home. I was picked up as a stray by animal control and taken to a very scary place called a shelter where, after my hold time was up I was placed on something bad called "the list". I wasn't getting much attention at all, probably 'cause I was a super scared girl and just hid in the back of my kennel, and being all black I just kind of melted away. Fortunate for me, a volunteer with a small local rescue saw me and pulled me before anything bad happened to me and then contacted BCAA to see if they could help me and they said yes. I am about 18months old and weigh around 55lbs and have a beautiful shiny, black coat. I'm still pretty shy and skittish but my foster parents are working hard on getting me to come out of my shell and I so want to be loved and am looking for a quiet home where someone will be patient with me and give me time to learn to trust; it would even help if there was another confident dog in the home that I could learn the ropes from as I love other dogs (I've even ignored those things called cats). Another thing that will help me is treats ... I love mealtime and treats. I have done pretty good in my crate with just a couple of accidents. Because lots of things still scare me, I'm not the best on leash but with some more training (treats will also help), I know I can learn to walk on leash with you If you think you would like to learn more about me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.
