Ace's Story
If you've got a tennis ball, we're already off to a great start.

My name is Ace, and I've been here since 1/14/2026 after coming from Animal Friends of the Valley. I'm a playful, energetic guy who doesn't really believe in doing anything halfway. When I'm excited, you'll know it. I'll bounce, I'll talk, I'll try to get you involved in whatever I've decided is fun at the moment.

With people, I'm super engaging and full of personality, but I'll need some guidance to keep my manners in check. I can get a little jumpy and mouthy when I'm excited, especially if I don't know what else to do with all that energy. The more structure and direction I have, the better I do.

Other dogs are one of my favorite things. I love to play, especially that back-and-forth, chase-and-zoom kind of fun. When I'm feeling confident, I really shine in those moments. I've even stepped into situations where things were getting tense and helped break it up just by moving through the group calmly. That said, I can also get a little too in other dogs' space sometimes, especially if I'm caught up in the excitement, so I do best with dogs who can either keep up or clearly tell me when to tone it down.

I've been gaining confidence over time, starting to open up more and show off those playful zoomies. I still have moments where things can feel like too much, especially with sudden pressure or loud corrections, and I might shut down or try to get away from it. I do much better with patient, positive guidance rather than anything overwhelming.

My energy is definitely on the higher side. I need outlets, both physical and mental, to help me stay balanced. A ball, a game, a job to focus on, that's where I really start to come together.

One thing to keep in mind is that I may not be the best match for very young kids right now, since I can get nippy when I'm overstimulated and still learning how to manage that excitement.

If you're looking for a fun, active dog who's full of personality and just needs the right direction to shine, come meet me. I'll probably bring the energy, you just bring the ball.
