Ace's Story

Update 1/30:
He’s going great. We had our neuro consult at CARE and while nothing surgically can be done for him as the injury is at least 3-4 months old before the owner tried to euthanize him, and we were asked to step in to save him, we do have an appt with VET-REC Indian trail to start some water therapy next week. And every day he shows slight improvement with mobility with one back leg actually mobilizing it enough to lift his rear a little to poop and pee. He’s great with all people and dogs. Except over his food with dogs. We have a wheelchair for him but he prefers scooting around. He puts himself to bed every night too! He’s very quiet and so sweet. 5 yrs old and about 14lbs. Just an angel of a dog. Any donation amount would be appreciated to support the therapy.

Update Jan 10:
Ace has arrived! We picked up Ace last night after his neuter and shave down. Ace is amazing and is not as bad paralyzed as I thought he was going to be. He clearly can feel his one leg and he wags his tail and still tries to run albeit he’s dragging. But he does have full bowel and bladder control. He’s about 15lbs now after the shave down. Ace was surrendered to be euthanized at a vet clinic due to being down in the back after his crappy owners didn’t want to be bothered with paying for anything. Matted excessively no vetting of any kind and unwilling to even give the wheelchair they supposedly said they had for him. He’s 5 yrs old. He does have some food and toy resource guarding so no small kids please. But if those items are not in play then he’s great with all dogs and people. We need a foster asap for him while we work to get some X-rays or neuro consults set up. Please text 7046509653 or apply to foster or adopt Ace at www.peanutsplacerescue.org click application scroll down it’ll appear. I think I have three wheelchairs in storage to check if one fits him. But as long as he has grass or soft surfaces he loves moving pretty good. Donations for his care can be made to Zelle 7046509653 or Venmo Colleen-Sowers-1 (mine has no picture and exactly as posted). Thank you.

Intake:
Got a call from a vet clinic and this shihtzu was surrendered there to be euthanized because they didn’t want to spend the money to find out what’s wrong with him. What we know so far is…His name is Ace, he’s 18lbs and 5 yrs old and has been down in the hind end or paralyzed since October but never xrayed, no definitive reason. He does have control of his bowels and bladder which is a very good sign. He’s matted and has potential chronic dry eye. The vet is going to shave and neuter him tomorrow for us. He’s apparently a doll baby and they did not have the heart to euthanize this dog. What we need from y’all is… 1. Prayers always welcome. 2. A foster lined up that can handle a wheelchair baby. He comes with one and we have several more if his isn’t nice enough. 3. Funds to help get him a proper diagnosis at CARE with X-rays neurology possible ivdd surgery or whatever is recommended. Zelle is 7046509653. Venmo is Colleen-Sowers-1 ( mine has no picture). If you’re that special person that has had a wheelie before you know how special they really are and usually act like any other dog just happy to be moving. He does not wear a diaper and is NOT incontinent another good sign. Please text asap at 7046509653 if you can foster him.
