Ace's Story

Ace is only 1 year old and a strong, playful, beefcake pup but he will settle on the couch next to you and snuggle in. He loves to be petted and rubbed. Because of the scar tissue above his elbow, I gently massage that area which does not seem to bother him. He does pull on a leash especially when you first go out. He does redirect easily but requires frequent reminders, he still has puppy brain and some bully stubbornness. We are working on manners, when the weather is decent, we walk and he loves his walks. We sniff everything! He’s a great copilot and loves car rides. Ace is very treat and food motivated but has no food aggression at all. He loves big bones and he cannot lie. He does try to destroy the stuffed dog bed but again “leave it” redirects him, so he doesn’t get stuffed toys. I’m not sure how he will be in close proximity to other dogs. Outside, especially at night, when he hears a dog bark, he goes on alert and tenses up. His sutures from the hernia repair haven’t completely dissolved yet but, it is all healed over. He doesn’t like the dremel on his nails. He does mouth and we are working on that, it seems to be more of a puppy play habit. He’s great in the shower or tub. Because of his injuries to that right front leg and the substantial scar tissue as well as the old, fused elbow, he will need to maintain his weight around what he is now, around 48 pounds. He whines to let you know he needs to go out and would probably do well with those doorknob bells. He would be great with an active family with older children.

If you are interested in Ace please visit our website: www.ilenglishbulldogrescue.org, and read through our adoption criteria to see if you meet our requirements.
