Abe's Story
Abe (aka Luca) is starting to wonder why all of his friends are getting adopted and he keeps getting passed over... He knows he's no longer a puppy, but that is a good thing because he doesn't have accidents in the house or destroy anything and he still is playful while also being able to chill out when you need him to. He knows he's not a fancy breed like a doodle or a frenchie, but he's an awesome and unique combination of lab, collie and shepherd - which makes him soooo cool! He waited in Arkansas with a rescue for 2 yrs for someone to adopt him, but no one came! That's when Big Bones stepped in. Abe traveled all the way to Colorado because he knew his furever person/family would be here wanting to do all the things he loves to do, like taking walks or hikes, playing fetch, playing in water and cuddling on a nice warm couch.

Abe is house trained (even comes to tell you if he has to go out), generally good with most dogs, and ignored cats during his cat test. He absolutely loves people of all shapes and sizes, including kids. He will follow you just about anywhere (as long as you aren't holding a vacuum). He does have a tendency to jump up when excited, but he is very gentle taking treats and allows humans to give and take food from him easily. He does not like to share food or treats with other dogs, though, and sometimes corrects dogs when startled, which can lead to a scuffle when the other dog does not take correction, so we do recommend him being an only dog (who can have playmates) or go to a house with another more laid back dog and humans that will continue to work on boundaries/training with him (he’s very responsive to training and redirection).

He’s about 60 lbs and just over 4yrs old. He has quickly picked up basic commands "outside", "sit", "down", "paw", "come". He is too special to wait much longer. Are you his special person?? Please apply to meet him today!
