Abbey (FKA Autumn Rae)'s Story
Why choose me?

Foster update: This is my first time fostering a bonded pair from the same home, and I'm wondering how much harder that'll make it to find their next home. Surely someone wants TWO amazing dogs that keep each other company?! Because it would break my heart a little to see them separated. So let me tell you about these two, because they're the SWEETEST.
This is Abbey & Ace. They are very well mannered / don't jump up on people. I haven't heard them bark yet. They do really well in a kennel (together) and are house trained. They don't make a fuss, and they sleep through the night. They get along with my other foster dog, and I've been told they are good with kids per their last home. They share food / eat each other's food, but have no food aggression or resource guarding with each other. Both jumped right in my car and laid down in the backseat like perfect riders. They're honestly just EASY (which is honestly why I chose them to foster).
Abbey (red) spends half her time "nesting" - trying to make herself a bed in whatever material you've given her. She's a LOVER and would enjoy being a couch dog to snuggle next to her person. She's super matted, so I plan on taking her somewhere to be professionally groomed, and then she will be STUNNING. Her age is unknown, but we think she's middle aged.
Ace (black) is supposedly 9 years old, but he has just as much spunk as Abbey (though neither are high energy dogs). And he LOVES his bestie. I've been told he won't eat without her around, but I haven't tested that myself. He loves coming over for pets, but he's not as much of a couch dog as Abbey. He does enjoy carrying stuffies around in his mouth and chewing bones. He's very food motivated.
* * *
Abbey (fka Autumn Rae) had just come in and caught my eye as I walked by the kennels. She's a beautiful girl with a gorgeous red coat. She's super sweet, liked staying close, and enjoyed pets and treats. She doesn't take her treats gently, so I used an open hand or tossed them to her. Abbey really enjoyed being outside with a friend, so she wasn't too happy about returning to her kennel. I don't blame her; I'm sure she's missing her home and loved ones.
You can read more about this dog and check out additional photos here: https://www.accgov.com/9482/Dogs

The adoption fees, shelter schedule, a description of the rescue and adoption process, and a list of included vetting can be found at https://athenspets.net/adoption-rescue-process.

This dog is available for adoption through Athens-Clarke County Animal Services, located at 125 Buddy Christian Way, Athens, GA.
