812 (2026) Casey's Story

Adoption Fee: $475

When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped!

What we know: Transferred from Skiatook Paws and Claws in Oklahoma at four months old, fixed, UTD on vaccines.

*Casey had a series of cluster seizures in foster that resulted in her initially being pulled for medical evaluation. After visits to the ER and a neurologist, she has been diagnosed with an ongoing seizure disorder that requires strict medication administration every 12 hours. It is possible with medication that she will still have breakthrough seizures and potential adopters need to be prepared for more medical needs and financial commitments than the average puppy.*

*Casey would probably be most successful in a home that didn't have kids under 10 or so; while she's overall fairly mellow, she does like to puppy play and is still using her mouth when she does, so she would be a lot for very small children at the moment.*

From the foster: Meet Casey!

Looking for an easygoing, affectionate pup who would love nothing more than to be your little shadow? Meet Casey!

This sweet girl is an absolute delight to have around. Casey has a wonderfully easygoing personality and loves being wherever her people are. Whether she's quietly snoozing at your feet or curled up beside you on the couch, Casey is happiest when she's part of the action.

Of course, she also has a playful side! Casey enjoys romping around with her young foster dog sibling, although she can get a little too excited after a while. Luckily, she's learning that sometimes the best thing to do is take a break and recharge. She responds beautifully when encouraged to settle down for some quiet time.

Casey is still working through a little puppy nibbling, but she's a smart girl and responds well to a "no nibble" reminder or being redirected to an appropriate chew toy. She's also doing a fantastic job learning her puppy manners. Casey comes when called and knows "sit" and "down", and she's currently working on "place" and "shake".

At bedtime, Casey is a superstar! She sleeps through the night in her kennel and lets you know when she needs to head outside. She isn't completely house trained yet, but with regular trips outside, she is making great progress.

**Walks? YES, PLEASE!** Casey absolutely loves going for walks and is a dream on leash. She walks politely alongside her foster parent on a loose leash and occasionally pauses to investigate something interesting before happily continuing along.

Casey does have a medical need that her forever family will need to be prepared for. She has a history of seizures, which are currently well controlled with medication given twice a day. She will need to remain on this medication for the rest of her life. While giving medication twice a day may require a little extra commitment, Casey has plenty of love to give in return-and we think she's worth every bit of it!

Casey's perfect family will be a calm household that is committed to her ongoing medical care and enjoys getting out for walks and adventures. A mature, calm canine sibling could be a wonderful match for her, but Casey would also be perfectly happy being your one-and-only pup.

If you're looking for a sweet, easygoing girl who wants to follow you around, snuggle beside you, go for walks, and be your devoted companion, Casey may just be your girl!

www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
