565 (2026) Cassie's Story

Adoption Fee: $475

When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped!

What we know: Litter of 10 puppies, originally part of a litter of 14, found at approximately 2 months old in Texas. While in the care of another rescue, the litter slowly began breaking with parvo and sadly 3 puppies ultimately passed away. One puppy was transferred to another rescue, while the remaining 10 puppies were transferred into our care at approximately 4.5-5 months old.

**Cassie will be available through private meet and greets only to set her up for success. Please email info@coloradopuppy.org with questions or to set up a meet and greet**

Cassie has successfully completed a three-week board-and-train program with Art of the Dog Canine Academy. During her time there, she learned foundational obedience skills, improved her ability to remain neutral in distracting and stressful environments, and developed tools to better navigate situations that were previously challenging for her.

To continue building on her progress, it is important that Cassie's training remains consistent in her adoptive home. She has been trained using an e-collar as part of her training program and is comfortable working with this system. Her adopters should be prepared to continue the training methods she has learned to provide consistency and help set her up for long-term success.

As part of Cassie's adoption, Art of the Dog Canine Academy has generously offered her adopters complimentary lifetime follow-up training sessions. This resource is strongly encouraged to help ensure a smooth transition and continued progress.

Based on her trainers' recommendations, Cassie will do best in a calm, low-stress home without children. She would do well with a compatible canine companion but is not considered an appropriate candidate for dog parks or other high-stimulation environments. Her adopters should be committed to maintaining her training and providing the structure and consistency that will allow her to continue thriving.

*Cassie was returned because she was going after the children in the home, even after repeated training efforts. She will require a home with no children. She also reportedly went after the man in the home. She was great with the previous adopters' dogs.*

From the foster: If Cassie has already tugged at your heartstrings, know that her story is still unfolding, and she'll continue to amaze us.

The most important thing to know about Cassie is that she has an enormous heart. She's a big, goofy puppy whose greatest motivation isn't treats, it's love. She thrives on affection, praise, and being close to her people. If another dog is getting attention, Cassie will happily scoot over for her fair share, often resulting in double-team face kisses!

Cassie recently completed an intensive board-and-train program with Art of the Dog and is doing an incredible job applying her skills back in a home environment. She has a fantastic heel, is potty trained, bell trained, doggie door trained, and enjoys car rides. Like any smart puppy, she'll occasionally test boundaries, so her ideal adopter will be committed to continuing her training and holding her accountable with kindness and consistency. She has leash-reactivity with some dogs and playful with others. She walks wonderfully on leash with her foster siblings.

Living with her foster siblings has helped Cassie continue learning play manners and confidence. After some normal decompression, she's settling in beautifully and showing just how much love, trust, and potential she has.

When she's not cuddling or learning, Cassie loves frozen peanut butter kongs, chewing on pig ears, cow hooves, bully sticks, and Himalayan yak cheese chews. Even better, she enjoys them with absolutely no resource guarding. Not many dogs would leave their foster brother's leftover beef trachea with a simple 'no.'

If you're looking for a loving, well-trained puppy who is still growing into her best self, Cassie may be your perfect match. She'll reward your patience and guidance with endless affection, loyal companionship, and plenty of puppy joy.

www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
