26Rose's Story

Name: 26 Rose (Rosie)
Sex: Spayed, Female
Breed Mix: Chocolate Labrador
Age: 7 years
Weight: 72 lbs
Dogs? Rosie is OK with my 7-year-old Labrador. Rosie has only been with us a few weeks and most of that time she has been on post spay restriction. She has been around one other female dog while she recovers from her spay, but she lived with a male dog for several years. We believe she had at least a few litters before coming to the rescue, so we are trying to get her as healthy as possible now.
Cats? Unknown.
Kids? Unknown.
House-trained? Appears to be, as long as she is taken out every couple hours and
there have been no accidents. She does use the dog door, but it is installed in the outside
garage door allowing access between garage and yard. I assume she would use a dog door
going from the house to the yard.
Crate Trained? Has gotten used to being in the crate for feeding (which includes 1 hour of
crate time after the meal), sleeps in a crate overnight, and is crated for a couple hours while I go out every day. She was a bit anxious about it at first and made a rub sore on her
nose that is healing up as she has adjusted to the schedule here.
Leash Trained? Has been on a leash only briefly out of the house since she has been on post surgery restriction. I kept her on leash in the house for about a week and she will yield to leash pressure. Will be working on outdoor walks this week. She knows “sit” but doesn’t seem to know “down.”
She has been having a great time digging through the large basket of toys and then trotting
around the house with them. Particularly likes the squeaky ones. She has figured out and likes the Woofsicle which my dogs get once a day with the dental mix. Not particularly snuggly, but likes an ear scratch and gentle petting. Will chase thrown objects but doesn’t return them.
Could easily be trained to “fetch” if someone wanted to do that. Very food motivated.
This sweet girl would love to have a person to hang out with all day and light exercise to lose a few pounds. Sadly she lost her lifetime owner and is searching for her new furever home.

If interested, we recommend submitting an adoption application at: www.foothilldogrescue.org

This dog will be available at Saturday’s adoption event at our rescue. Meet and greets are 11:00 - 1:00.
Our address is:
4131 S Shingle Rd suite 14
Shingle Springs, CA

Please bring all resident dogs and children that live in the household to the meet and greet.

Our adult dog adoption fee is $350 (with $5 processing fee if paid by card) and fee for pups under 4 months old is $400 (with $5 processing fee if paid by card). Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, rabies, DAPP and Bordetella vaccines, deworming, microchip, heart worm test and lifetime registration.
