26Polyester's Story

PRIVATE MEETS ONLY!

Name: 26Polyester (Polly)
Breed Mix: Frenchie/English Bulldog mix
Age: 3 years
Weight: 35 lbs
Dogs: Yes! I’ve been great with small dogs and dogs up to about 60 lbs. Once they get bigger than that, I can get a little sassy — what can I say, I have opinions.
I’m actually starting to learn how to play with the little dogs in my foster home, although they don’t always let me join their club. My foster mom thinks it’s hilarious watching me try to weasel my way right into the middle of their playtime anyway. I can take a hint, I just choose not to.
I don’t do as well with overly dominant dogs, like my foster bulldog brother. He hates sharing toys, and frankly, I think that’s rude and I WILL let him know. Because neither of us can act right about it, my foster mom currently has a “no toys” rule when we’re together. With the little dogs, though? I’m great about sharing! Basically, I could absolutely have a sibling — I’d just like to have some say in who it is.
I’m also very particular about dinner. Other dogs can eat around me and I couldn’t care less, but please do not come near MY bowl while I’m eating. Boundaries, people. For that reason, I eat separately with a slow feeder. I often finish before the last dog and come back out while he’s still eating, and I’ve had zero issues being around him or watching him finish. I simply don’t want to share my own food. Can you blame me?
Cats?: Honestly? They’re not really for me. My foster home has a cat who already isn’t particularly social, but he is familiar with dogs and definitely knows how to hold his ground. Unfortunately, I still think chasing him is VERY fun.
After about three months, I’ve gotten A LOT better about leaving him alone, but every once in a while, I see him and simply cannot resist the urge. I’ve never attacked him — apparently, I just really enjoy watching him run away from me. Hahaha! Because of that, I’d probably prefer a cat-free home where I’m not constantly tempted to make bad decisions.
Kids?: I’ve been around kids 6–8 years old, though not regularly, and I’ve been totally fine with them! I especially enjoy the ones who understand that their primary job is to pet me nicely and give me lots of attention.
That being said, I’m mostly a girls’ girl. My foster mom is my PERSON, and I prefer her over basically everyone else. Sorry to the rest of the household, but there can only be one favorite.
House-trained?: Yes! I’ve had very few accidents in the house, and the ones I did have were associated with a medication change. Normally, I can hold it like a total pro.
My foster family generally takes me outside every couple of hours until bedtime, but I’ve also been left alone for longer stretches and still haven’t had accidents. I know the rules, thank you very much.
Crate Trained?: My foster mom hasn’t really enforced crate time, but she was told I did fine in one previously. The few times she’s tried putting me in one; however, I have made my current opinion on the matter VERY clear: no thank you.
That said, I’m smart, and if crate training were necessary in my new home, my foster mom thinks I could pick it back up pretty quickly with some patience and consistency.
Leash Trained?: I do fine on a leash when I need to go to my vet appointments! Otherwise, I’m not really a “hot girl walk” kind of girl.
Because of my breathing, I can’t handle long walks, strenuous exercise, or excursions where I might get overly excited or exhausted. If I get too worked up and struggle to catch my breath, it can make me gag and sometimes vomit. Dramatic? Yes. But also, important!
I’m much better suited for someone looking for a professional couch companion rather than a hiking buddy. Give me a comfy house, reasonable activity, lots of attention, and preferably the opportunity to be your one and only princess — although I suppose I can tolerate sharing the spotlight with the right sibling.
Medical information:
This dog has previously had polyps removed from the ears. Due to the breed, ongoing ear care and regular monitoring will be important as there is a possibility that additional polyps could develop and required removal in the future.
Also, due to breed related anatomy, the nares (nostrils) should continue to be monitored. Surgery is not needed at this time, but nares surgery may become necessary in the future if breathing concerns develop.
Regular veterinary care and monitoring will be required for her future family.
If interested, we recommend submitting an adoption application at: www.foothilldogrescue.org

This dog will be available at Saturday’s adoption event at our rescue. Meet and greets are 11:00 - 1:00.
Our address is:
4131 S Shingle Rd suite 14
Shingle Springs, CA

Please bring all resident dogs and children that live in the household to the meet and greet.

Our adult dog adoption fee is $350 (with $5 processing fee if paid by card) and fee for pups under 4 months old is $400 (with $5 processing fee if paid by card). Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, rabies, DAPP and Bordetella vaccines, deworming, microchip, heart worm test and lifetime registration.
