26-021 Hunter's Story
Hunter is a 33 pound, 4 month old, sweet, smart, and sensitive Husky/Lab (best guess!) mix with a heart as big as his personality. His unique dappled coat and striking heterochromia—one blue eye and one brown with a splash of blue—make him truly one of a kind!

At just 33 lbs and recently given a clean bill of health after his second round of vaccinations, Hunter is expected to grow into a medium sized adult—an ideal fit for a variety of homes.

In his foster home, Hunter has settled in beautifully alongside two larger dogs and enjoys both playtime and companionship. He loves games like fetch, tug-of-war, and keep-away, and his adorable “zoomies” in the yard are guaranteed to make you smile. Despite his playful side, he has a nice medium energy level and relaxes well, whether lounging at home or riding along for a “bye-bye” adventure.

Hunter is making excellent progress with training. He is crate-trained, sleeps well through the night, and is doing great with house training—he even uses a doggy door like a pro! He already knows how to sit, is learning “shake,” and has impressive leash skills and recall for his age.

While he may be a bit cautious when meeting new people, Hunter warms up quickly with gentle encouragement and shows his affection with a wagging tail. He's also shown himself to be respectful around cats.

Hunter's early life was a tough start, but thanks to a kind rescuer, he now has the chance to thrive. With continued patience, love, and stability, this snuggly boy is sure to blossom into an incredible lifelong companion.

If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, and playful pup to grow with your family, Hunter might just be your perfect match.

To meet Hunter in person visit us at www.dsda.org/adopt and submit our online adoption application.

ADOPTION FEE Covers: Core vaccines plus Lepto and Flu, all boosters, microchip, dewormer until clear fecal test & spay or neuter when completed by a DSDA vet partner plus any necessary medical care. All dogs are on flea, tick and heartworm prevention and you receive the following month's preventatives complementary with your adoption!

* Adoption Fees:

Puppies (12 months and under) - $325

Dogs (over 12 months) - $275

Qualifications for Adoption: No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.

Must be home more than not.
Vet checks are required! All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions.
Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address.
Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household.
Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting.
Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet.
Must have a secure fence if in a house.
All poisonous plants must be removed from the yard.
DSDA is located in Dallas and requires a home visit on every adoption so only adopt to Dallas and surrounding areas.
