25-071 Sorcha's Story
Hi, I’m Sorcha. Actually my foster family calls me Saint Sorcha because they tell me all the time that I am an absolute Saint. I don't like to talk about my life before being rescued, but I somehow ended up in a crowded shelter with huge infected feet and wounds all over my body. My foster mom thinks my foot infection was not addressed and my previous family dumped me instead of getting me the help I needed. Because I couldn’t walk and could barely stand, she thinks something attacked me and I couldn’t get away or defend myself. Luckily I ended up at my local shelter and they started me on a bunch of meds, but I was in super rough shape and I ended up with a nasty URI. Thankfully, Bull Terrier Rescue Mission was alerted and was able to pull me onto their program and get me the urgent medical attention I needed. Despite having a laundry list of medical issues initially, I tried my hardest to be a good girl, and hence the nickname “Saint Sorcha” stuck.

Now I am a happy, energetic bull terrier! My feet are still bigger than normal, but due to prolonged infection, they will never look “normal” and I may end up needing pain meds due to early arthritis. That won’t stop me from living life to the fullest though! My favorite thing is cuddling on the couch with my foster dad. Followed closely by hunting falling leaves, meal times, snack times, tug times, and trying to win over my feline foster siblings. Unfortunately due to likely being attacked before coming to the shelter, I get too overstimulated around other dogs and my fight or flight reflex kicks in. But I am more than happy to live with bully-savvy cats/older kids (10+) with proper introductions. I do get a little too enthusiastic when meeting new people inside sometimes, but put me on a leash and I settle down immediately. I am always very polite when meeting people on walks and at the vet.

My ideal home would be a calmer household with a fenced yard for me to relax and potty in. I walk very nicely on leash, but if I see another dog my brain may turn off on its own, so having a yard is imperative. I am excellent at taking meds and could teach classes on “the right way to behave when getting your feet soaked.” Really, I just want to be with my people. Ideally on their lap, on the couch, and under a blanket. Work from home? I’m your pup! I am also an angel in a crate and am willing to sleep there all day if your boss is mean and won’t let you hang out with me all day. My foster mom is awesome, but my foster family thinks I may prefer men, because I BIG LOVE my foster dad. I love to sing my bull terrier songs whenever I see him.

If I sound like I may be the pup for you, please fill out an application with Bull Terrier Rescue Mission!
