1014 Barry PKA Bear's Story
Barry is being fostered in Griffith, IN.

Barry is an approximately 2 1⁄2 year old red-tri Aussie looking for a forever home to finally have a place he can come into his own! His birthday is unknown, but this good boy looks forward to celebrating his gotcha day every year with his people! At 45 lbs, Barry is a medium sized boy that has mastered basic commands and potty training.

He can either indicate when he needs to go out or ring potty bells and is working on learning more advanced commands of “spin” and “stay”. He is also so well-behaved that he doesn't require a crate but is undergoing crate training, just in case it is the preference of his forever home. Additionally, Barry is perfectly content on car rides and will lay down for the journey.

Heavy duty toys and balls are a MUST for this pup, as he loves to play and he knows how to take apart a plushie dog toy. Bask in his beautiful, loving eyes while receiving Barry cuddles between games of fetch. Barry loves playing with toy balls the most and will do so inside or in the backyard. Please note it is currently unknown if he requires a fence, but his habit appears to be staying with his people and his toys when in the backyard.

Speaking of toys, Barry adores his toys so much that we recommend he live as the only dog in his household, as he gets protective over his prized possessions with other dogs. Barry also highly cherishes his people and will protect them through thick and thin, so no rough housing around this pup or expect a nip. Given his protection skills, it is recommended that Barry live in a child-free household or, at the very least, no children under the age of 14 years old.

As much as Barry loves to play outside, he is not thrilled with required grooming, but he loves a good food-based distraction to help him persevere through his grooming needs. He will also require some high-quality treats to redirect his attention during walks because, though he is fantastic on the leash, he does display reactive barking towards other people and dogs out in the world. Lastly, Barry has never met a cat, so it is unknown how he will react, but we do know he is ready to love his human(s) as soon as possible!

Barry is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization. For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.

NOTE: All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in. Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org
