0991 Jessie AKA Kricket's Story

Kricket is fostered in Delton, MI.

Meet your new gal pal, the cute Miss Kricket! She is a 5-year-old (06/23/2020) female red tri mini Australian Shepherd, bobtail, with one blue & one brown eye. She stands about 17 inches tall at her shoulders and curretly weighs about 25 lbs. Not too big and not too small! Just right!

Kricket came into her foster home in November and is a very smart, fun, eager to please, silly, happy girl. She has a good recall, knows sit and down, and very food motivated. Kricket is crate trained and house trained. She is well-mannered in the house when left unattended, except for her occassional attempt to counter surf. Just asking her what she's doing stops her attempt!

Kricket loves her stuffies! She carries them around and "hides" them in the house - on the couch, against the wall, in the doorway, and even outside in the snow or leaves! She shares her stuffies with me and loves a good game of tug or fetch. She is a good balance of playful and adventurous - to - ready to chill out and take a nap. She does not need to be constantly doing something and can amuse herself! Kricket melts for belly rubs and snuggles with her foster mom. She is a constant shadow and just wants to be with her human(s)! In return, Kricket does desire undivided attention. She loves to be close and will gaze at you with the softest, squintiest stare!

Kricket at this point does not enjoy car rides as they make her a little nervous and panting. She does much better riding in a crate, but this is something that her foster home is working on with her on becoming comfortable in the car.

She does well with grooming (brushing, grinding nails, bath). A lick mat with peanut butter smeared on it helps when she is being groomed. Kricket also does well at the vet. Kricket would like a home with NO other pets or young kids. (She might do ok with older kids just visiting).

She does not like to share her human's attention with others (2 or 4 legged). Kricket was surrendered to us, because after 2 years with her previous family they had a baby. This year as the baby got more mobile, they noticed Kricket did not like this and used gates and play pens as barriers to keep them both safe.

Kricket is currently living with a standard Aussie and tolerates him for the most part, but if she thinks he has gotten too close to her toys or sees him getting affection from her foster mom, she will snap at him to drive him away. While this is a simple warning, another non-to-tolerant pup in the home might not take too kindly to her responses.

Kricket seems to enjoy walks and hikes and running around in her yard. Most of all, Kricket just wants to be doing whatever her human is doing. She just wants someone all her own that feels the same way. She desires a human that can be her companion and vice versa - doing things together and just enjoy each other's company! If you are ready for that one special friend, then apply for Kricket and get the process started.

Kricket is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. We do require proof of heartworm for any prior or current pets in the home.

NOTE: All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in. Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org
