Jasper is being fostered in Dennison IL<br/><br/>Jasper is a 7 year old STUNNING red merle with heterochromia eyes that will melt anyone's worries away just by looking at him! This 50lb sweetheart's primary goal is to be someone's "ride or die" dog. His start may have been rough, it hasn't reduced this guy's ability to love and love hard. Jasper and 3 other dogs lived on a chain in rural Ohio, and when their owner passed away they had no one. A local animal control reached out to MASR and asked for our help. <br/><br/>Jasper is approximately 7 years old but has the energy of a much younger dog. He runs with gusto, fetches with his whole being, and hugs you back. Food motivation is solid, but he's willing to learn anything you ask for a little love. <br/><br/>He was a little underweight when he joined rescue, but he's filled out well. His paw pads and coat were a wreck. He's made progress on both, but ice/ snow can still bring out a limp from sensitivity. Silver honey and coconut oil have made a world of difference. Salmon oil and a good diet have turned his coat into what it should be. <br/><br/>House training was also new to Jasper. He had never been taught. However, he's a good boy and has quickly learned to go to the door for potty. We're not 100% yet, but a bit of diligence should pay off. He will need to stay on a schedule to continue to be successful. <br/><br/>Jasper is good on a leash. He was curious about our cat but did not chase. He gets along with other dogs if they are patient with his energy. He's only just figuring out to politely be a dog friend. He's made a world of progress there also. Overall, Jasper needs someone to give his whole heart to that will continue his journey towards being his best, big- hearted, lovable goofball. Jasper would LOVE to have a fenced yard to play and run in in his forever home BUT if someone is active and wants him to be a running buddy or something like that, he would probably be ok without a fence. <br/><br/>Jasper is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.
