0291 Sally's Story
Sally is being fostered in Portage IN

OH SWEET SWEET SALLY!!!! Sally is a 4-5 year old standard female black tri Australian Shepherd. She is a super cute black tri, weighing about 50lbs. She is sweet, affectionate, eager to please and just a GOOD girl. She is SUPER food motivated and will do anything for a treat! She is potty trained and doesn't love the crate, but hasn't had an accident in the house. She does however, need a good amount of structured exercise to not be desctructive or mischevious in the house, like any other Aussie. Once exercised, she has a nice off switch. Sally is new to cuddling and living inside a home, but she has picked it up quickly and LOVES all the attention she is getting. Sally LOVES to play with other dogs and we think she would be happiest with another dog to play with in her new home.

Sally is a sensitive girl and responds really well to positive reinforcement. When her foster mom has raised her voice Sally cowers. We think a home with someone that will be firm but calm with Sally would be best for her and of course, continue her training with treats. Before Sally came to foster care, she lived on a farm in rural Indiana. We could tell from the condition of her body that she had had at least one litter of puppies.

Besides being sweet, eager to please, and being sensitive, Sally has had a couple seizures while in her foster home. We believe she has epilepsy and she had been started on a medication for that called Keppra (generic version). She needs to take this medication 2 times a day and takes it willingly in a piece of deli meat or cheese.

Sally would also like a physically fenced yard in her new home to be able to play with her new 4 legged sibling. There was another playful foster pup in her foster home that was recently adopted and she really misses him. SALLY HAS 2 Birthdates on her vet history 6-18-18 and 6-18-2019, which is why we wrote she is 4-5 years old. When we asked her previous owners, they said they didn't remember which one was correct.

Sally is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all 4 tick borne diseases, microchipped and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm. She needs to continue to stay on certain monthly prevention that are either chemical free like Wondercide, or a spray made with essential oils and heart guard due to her having seizures.

Sally needs: a firm but calm owner, a physically fenced yard, another playful dog in the home. If Sally melts your heart and you want to bring her into your family, please fill out an adoption application today https://midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org/home/adoption-process/
