Zoe's Story
Hello, I am Zoe's foster mum, Ramona.
Zoe was originally adopted with her deformed pelvis as a kitten by a senior from the UK. That original caregiver died of cancer when Zoe was three. I accepted Zoe as a foster on behalf of Pooler Paws when the husband surrendered her before returning to England. I fostered her from June of 2025 to October when she was adopted by a young college student. The pressures of her increased studies and time away from home led to her decision to surrender Zoe back to Pooler Paws and ultimately back to me rather than the Rescue House so she can have individualized care. Zoe is living in my sunroom presently and there is nothing I would like more than finding her permanent home that provides her with lots of love and attention, however I wish to be mindful and informative to any prospective pet-parent to avoid another surrender.
Zoe weighs in at just over 6 lbs presently. Breakfast is at 8AM with 1-1/2 cans of pate Fancy Feast with 1/4 teaspoon of Miralax (NOT chunks or shredded) and the same for dinner at 8PM. Generally her little system can tolerate a certain amount of fluctuation in her schedule but if her meals are overly delayed she sometimes gets too hungry, bilious and vomits. She always eats with gusto, licking her acrylic kitty bowl clean and looks for more. I'm certainly not qualified to comment but in my "opinion" the Miralax maybe life-saving because it keeps her stool soft enough to pass through her narrow pelvis however it likely speeds her food through her system so she's constantly hungry. She had an examination at Pooler Veterinary Hospital recently and Dr. Brown felt that she is in good health.
Zoe has a delightful small voice unlike many Siamese. Her demeanor has a nice balance of needy lap-cat and independent confidence. She does dole out love-bites but never in malice and is easily redirected. She is not a messy cat despite the messes that sometimes occur. She is fastidious about using the litter box and enjoys access to more than one box. Unfortunately the Miralax does maintain a soft stool which in-turn can cling around her bottom, so, to avoid accidental smears she benefits from regular "wipes". It's not a regular occurrence, but Zoe has limited control or sensation with her sphincter muscles and is unaware of occasional clingon dollops when she steps out of the litter box.
This description is not intended to discourage, merely to describe her Special Needs which basically boils down to maintaining her very affordable diet of Fancy Feast (3X 96 cents per day), the addition of 1/4 tsp Miralax to every meal and the occasional bottom wipe (which she doesn't protest too much if you wipe -after- her meal. Thank you for your interest and encourage you to come visit Zoe even if you don't end up adopting - she's lonely.
