Zita's Story

Hi, I'm Zita!

Remember when someone said "large and in charge"? They were talking about me.

I'm a gorgeous tortie girl currently weighing in at an impressive 22 pounds. Yes, there is quite a lot of Zita to love-but as fabulous as my curves may be, I'm carrying far more weight than is healthy or comfortable for me, and I'm ready to begin my weight-loss journey!

Don't underestimate me, though! I'm still up and moving around, exploring my room and getting myself where I need to go. I'd just feel SO much better doing it with considerably less Zita to carry around.
Because of my size, there are a few places I simply can't reach to groom properly right now. My future family will need to help me stay clean and comfortable with regular brushing and grooming.

I'll need to be on a weight management diet with portioned meals. My transformation needs to happen safely and gradually so I can become healthier, more comfortable, and hopefully rediscover some of those normal cat activities that are a little harder for me right now. I also have diabetes, which is currently being managed with Senvelgo, an oral medication given once daily. My future family will need to be comfortable continuing my medication and keeping up with veterinary monitoring. It's possible my diabetes management may change as I lose weight and become healthier, but every diabetic kitty is different-so for now, consider my daily medication part of the Zita package!

Underneath all 22 pounds of tortitude is a girl who deserves a family willing to invest in her future. I don't need someone who loves me because I'm extra chunky-I need someone who loves me enough to help me not be.
