Zara's Story
Zara's story sounds like something out of a movie-but she's very real, and even more incredible in person.

At just 5 months old, Zara has already overcome more than most animals ever will. She came to us after a kind passerby spotted a carrier abandoned on the side of the road in the snow. Inside was a tiny, emaciated kitten and a note that simply read: "paralyzed kitten, please help." That moment changed everything for her, and for us.

We truly believe Zara was meant to find her way to April's Kittens. After bringing her to the vet, we discovered she had an old spinal fracture that had already fused, likely from very early in her life. As a result, Zara is paralyzed from that point down, but that doesn't define her.

When she first arrived, Zara was incredibly weak and didn't even have the strength to lift herself with her front legs. With time, care, and lots of love, she has made amazing progress. She's now able to scoot herself around using her front legs for short distances, and we've been working with her on physical therapy and introducing her to a wheelchair to help her gain even more mobility.

Zara is resilient, determined, and full of life-but she is also incredibly sweet and happiest when she's with her people. She loves companionship and will gladly curl up on your lap or sit right next to you while you work or relax, just content to be close.

Caring for her does require a bit of extra support-she needs her bladder expressed twice daily and some assistance, but she handles it all with patience and trust.

We know so many people fell in love with Zara when we first shared her story. Now, she's ready for the next chapter. She's looking for a very special adopter, someone who sees her potential, embraces her needs, and is excited to continue helping her grow stronger and more independent.
Zara isn't just a kitten. She's a survivor, a fighter, and a reminder of how powerful love and compassion can be!
