Yzma's Story
Say hello to Yzma! At 9 years old, this beautiful black and orange lady has a wise soul and a quiet presence. She’s past the busy kitten years and prefers a calm, predictable home where she can truly relax and feel secure.
Yzma will need a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. In a new environment, she’ll appreciate a slow introduction—cozy hiding spots, soft voices, and the freedom to explore at her own pace. Once she feels safe, her gentle and deeply rewarding companionship begins to shine.
Yzma was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism while in our care. This is a common and manageable condition in senior cats but requires lifelong medication and monitoring.
If you have a quiet home and are committed to her ongoing care, Yzma is ready to begin her next chapter—slowly, safely, and by your side.

This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!

If you'd like to meet our available animals, please check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalshelter/adopt
