His thick coat with the adorable brown patches makes him look just like a little bear waddling down the hallway. His golden eyes will follow you wherever you go hoping for some scritches and gentle pets. He is growing out of a lion cut so he looks like a cloud of stuffing. <br/><br/>Yankee wants to relax with his humans and a kitty companion or two because friends are a great part of life. He adapts pretty easily and with proper introductions to a new home will make you feel like he has been with you his entire life. He loves a soft bed or pillow to sprawl on as well as a window to watch the days go by. Yankee would do well in an apartment or a home. He will do great with his own individual person, a couple or a cat savvy older teenager too. He loves a wand toy and also enjoys noisy toys with bells or that crinkle!<br/><br/>Yankee is not dependent though on having a pet companion. He IS looking for a special human to fill his heart. He is not great at being picked up and being carried around, but he will hang with you all day if given the chance. If near a chair you sit in frequently, he will meow and demand a cuddle session. Even if that is just chilling next to you or over your leg. Yankee has never lived with a dog or children. At the vet clinic where he is being fostered, he has free roam and has met many cat-friendly dogs with curiosity. He is the type of cat that will adapt with appropriate introductions to a mellow dog or older/teenage children. He is good with other cats that are respectful. <br/><br/>Yankee is growing out a lion cut, but once fully coated, expect to do daily combing to keep him mat free. Yankee LOVES to be brushed, but he tries to escape when bathed. Like many Persians he has ongoing eye discharge and is very cooperative having them wiped to keep clean.<br/><br/>Yankee recently had a perineal urethrostomy - a surgery that widens and shortens his urethra to make him less prone to obstruct with urinary stones. He is more at risk for a urinary tract infection and keeping a sanitary shave around his groin along with using a urinary diet will greatly reduce this risk. Yankee needs a diet that will keep his urine pH balanced so his bladder is happy. He must be on a urinary diet like CD. Hills CD is available by prescription at most vet clinics. There are other brands that offer similar prescription diets. Your veterinarian will likely have a diet they recommend that will be perfect for him. He currently enjoys both the kibble and the canned varieties.<br/><br/><br/>VETTING PROVIDED<br/>To ensure ultimate health, Yankee is neutered, current on rabies and FVRCP vaccines, is FELV/FIV negative, has been dewormed and has had full blood work. He has had corrective Stenotic nares surgery to allow him to breathe comfortably and a PU surgery to prevent him from having further urinary blockages.
