Working cat pair - Kurt and Gitta

Please do not submit an inquiry via Petfinder.<br/><br/>Meet Kurt and Gitta — a bonded pair of approximately 1-year-old kitties looking for an indoor shop, brewery, or warehouse home as mousers.<br/><br/>Kurt (grey with lightly visible stripes) and Gitta (black panther with striking golden eyes) were discovered as a stray litter in a crawlspace and have spent the past several months in foster care trying to learn how to be pets. While they made some progress while in foster for a full year, they never showed signs of being comfortable as house pets. They do, however, like the company of people but from a distance. These cats are somewhat interactive with humans now, but not fully qualified as pets. They’d make excellent rodent deterrents in an indoor shop, brewery, distillery, or warehouse setting — somewhere with four walls and climate control, not an open barn.<br/><br/>Gitta is curious and independent and a bit chatty at times. Shes easily overstimulated when receiving pets (which she will ask for) and scurries away. Kurt is a bit more nervous and sensitive but will accept pets on occasion. He loves a spring toy and Gitta is fond of Da Bird. He is definitely the bigger hunter of the pair.<br/><br/>The biggest challenge with these two is handling. While they allow pets on their terms, picking them up is not in the cards (though Kurt can be picked up under the right circumstances). They will go into a carrier with high value treats inside of it, making vet visits a bit easier. Their adopter will receive instructions on how to manage this process and handling them overall moving forward.<br/><br/>Theyve been fostered in a home with four resident cats and a large dog so theyre accustomed to other animals. They have not interacted with small children and would likely hide from them.<br/><br/>What Kurt and Gitta looking for in a home:<br/><br/> - They want to stay together forever and must be adopted as a pair.<br/> - They're very cautious with humans, so they need a kind and patient guide to help them continue adjusting. Loud noises, fast movements, and strangers can make them nervous.<br/> - They have a fair amount of energy and will make excellent mousers<br/> - They feel at ease in a quiet and calm environment.<br/> - They have a positive history with dogs, but require slow introductions with a cat-savvy dog. <br/> - They have no known history with children.<br/><br/>All Alley Cat Projects cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption.<br/><br/>Please apply to adopt them by filling out this questionnaire: https://alleycatproject.org/shopcat<br/><br/>Only applicants who complete the questionnaire will be considered.
