Winston's Story

Meet Winston 🤍🖤 — a distinguished tuxedo gentleman who traded the streets of Nebraska for the chance at a quiet, cozy retirement filled with soft beds, sunny windows, and people who understand that trust is something precious.

At 9 years old, Winston is very much in his “peace and comfort” era. He’s a sweet, gentle soul who can be nervous in new situations and needs a calm, patient home willing to let him settle in at his own pace. He’s not the kind of cat who bursts into a room demanding attention — he’s the kind who quietly watches from a safe perch, slowly deciding that maybe, just maybe, you’re one of the good humans.

And once you earn that trust? Winston absolutely melts.

He adores pets and will happily purr and headbutt your hand to make it crystal clear that the petting session is not over yet, thank you very much. His favorite routine involves lounging somewhere up high with a nearby window, supervising the birds, squirrels, and neighborhood activity between snack breaks and cuddle requests.

Speaking of snacks: Winston is a true foodie. Birdie and Louie meals topped with Tiki Cat goodies are currently the way to his heart. 🍽️

Winston would thrive in a quiet, cat-experienced adult-only home with people who understand shy cats and are willing to let him blossom on his own timeline. We highly recommend that his future family follow our guide to winning over shy cats to help make his transition as smooth and stress-free as possible:
https://www.denverkittens.org/post/how-to-win-over-a-shy-cat

While Winston does well with other cats, he would not be comfortable around dogs or children. He prefers a calm environment where he can truly relax and feel safe.

Health-wise, Winston has had a full senior diagnostics panel, and the results show he’s a healthy guy overall. He recently had three teeth removed and may eventually need a full dental within the next year to keep the rest of his teeth sparkling and comfortable.

Winston isn’t looking for excitement. He’s looking for someone kind. Someone patient. Someone who understands that the quietest cats often have the biggest hearts.

Winston’s adoption fee includes:
• Neuter
• Dewormer
• FeLV testing
• Microchip
• Core vaccines
• A free 30-day subscription to Petcademy (24/7 cat behavior support!)
• A free exam at a ChewyVet clinic + a $50 Chewy gift card

Give Winston a little time, a sunny window, and a gentle hand, and he’ll reward you with slow blinks, soft purrs, and the kind of companionship that feels deeply earned. 🐾

To meet Winston, apply at denverkittens.org/adopt. Petfinder inquiries won't be considered.

Denver Kittens's Adoption Policy
1) Fill out an adoption application. Please note: we do not track special requests. If you have a specific breed you're looking for, please sign up for our enews (below) or follow us on social media to keep an eye on our cats/kittens as they come into rescue. Kittens must be adopted in pairs or to homes that already have another young cat. No exceptions. 2) If the cat/kitten you want to adopt is available, and we think you're a good match, we'll reach out to you to set up a meet and greet. This will typically happen within 24 hours. 3) The in-person meet and greet in the foster home is usually scheduled within 1-3 days. Setting up a meet-and-greet does not put a "hold" on a kitty. They are considered adoptable until the adoption fee is paid. 4) If it's a match, the adoption is finalized by signing an adoption contract and paying the adoption fee. All fosters need to be spayed/neutered before going home, so, especially for kittens, you may need to wait a few days or a few weeks, depending on where they're at in that process. Once the pet is ready to go home, please be prepared to pick it up within 24 hours. 5) Pickup will be scheduled. Kitty must be picked up within 24 hours of finalized adoption.
