Willow (aka Star) (Special Needs - CH & Allergies)'s Story
Willow: Chatty Tortie with a Little Wobble and a Lot of Opinions

Hi, I’m Willow! I’m a cute two-year-old tortoiseshell kitty, with tortie-tude in spades! I’m sassy, talkative, super entertaining, and very clear about how I expect my household to operate. I’m looking for a long-term foster who appreciates spirited conversations with a unique little friend.

First, I’m looking for an exclusive relationship – I want to be your one and only cat. I may tolerate a calm, respectful dog that is larger than I am, but my preference is to keep my people—and their attention—mostly to myself.

I love hunting my toys and occasionally drowning my captured “prey” in my water bowl just for funzies. I enjoy watching the neighborhood from my cat tree, spending time with my people, and cuddling with you or a cozy blanket when the mood strikes me. I’m affectionate, but I reserve the right to decide when snuggle time begins and ends. It’s important to maintain standards, you know?

I was born with a very mild case of cerebellar hypoplasia, commonly called CH. It is a non-degenerative neurological condition, which means it will NOT worsen over time. I walk a little differently and can lose my balance more easily than other cats, but I can still run, jump, chase toys, and conduct all my other important tortie business.

Because of my mild CH, there are just a few simple accommodations help keep me safe. Carpeted stairs or other secure steps make it much easier for me to get on and off furniture, and rugs or carpeting give me better traction. I should always be placed gently on a stable surface rather than dropped from someone’s arms. Once my home is arranged with my balance in mind, I do very well.

I also have a heart condition and a grade 2 heart murmur to be aware of, but it’s actually not a big deal – it’s not fatal and doesn’t even require medication at the moment. My veterinary team will continue to monitor everything, but it’s definitely not slowing me down!

My biggest ongoing medical need is allergy care. Apparently I am allergic to approximately 15 environmental allergens. I’ll need allergy injections for at least a year, so my foster must be comfortable with needles and willing to learn how to give my shots according to the veterinary treatment plan.

Because my allergy treatment is a long-term commitment, I’m looking for a dedicated long-term foster who can keep me safe, follow my medical schedule, and give me a stable home until my injections are complete. FFF will provide all the guidance and support to me and my fosters along the way. Once my allergy treatments are finished up, I’ll be available for permanent adoption!

If you have a quiet, cat-free home and room in your life for a funny little tortie who’s got plenty to say, I may be just the girl for you! I’ll bring daily conversation, cuddles, toy-hunting demonstrations, and enough personality to make sure you never miss having a second cat!

Personality traits: Sassy, chatty, affectionate, playful, funny, confident, people-oriented, independent, window watcher, toy hunter, selective cuddler, water-bowl toy collector, full-time tortie

Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program that places the intended adoptee with the potential adoptive family. This ensures that your feline companion is the perfect fit as well as provides support as you both transition into your new life together.

You can fill out an adoption application here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1685w60NjfU2eeE55Cd57TAaEZU7bERjyY825EMto48sTQw/viewform

Please reach out to Fitchburg Friends of Felines directly at 978-222-3170 or fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com with questions.
