White Paws and Marie's Story

Please read through the entire posting and requirements before applying via our questionnaire at https://alleycatproject.org/adopt
Please do not submit an inquiry via Petfinder.

Meet White Paws and Marie, a bonded pair of kitten siblings! They are approximately one year old.

Get into bed and White Paws will flop over into your arms, completely over, no dignity involved. He kneads, he nuzzles, he purrs the whole time. He does not do anything by halves. Marie does everything gently, her fear and her affection alike. She goes for your legs, settles her whole weight onto them, and purrs in place.

They were found at the Seattle Opera House, and neither of them has done anything that fancy since. White Paws is the one with the white feet and the broad white blaze down his front. Marie is smaller, with just a dab of white at her chin.

Neither of them used to come anywhere near a person. White Paws was the most frightened of the whole litter: he hissed, he scratched, he would not be approached. Marie hissed far less often, and her fear mostly looked like saucer eyes, half a second of stillness, and then an empty spot where she had been. They hid completely for their first month or two here, and they came round at the same pace.

In time they decided the bed was good, and then they decided the people in it were good too. Marie hopped up and sat on the nearest feet, which is still her move. White Paws, who used to hiss and scratch at everybody, is the one who now falls asleep in your arms.

New people still send them both into the closet among the hanging dresses. Reach a hand in blind, though, and they'll let you keep petting them, as long as nobody pulls the dresses aside to look. You would be a new person too, for a while.

In the daytime they tear around after each other, and they'll chase a feather on a wand until your arm gives out. They share the house with several other cats and a toddler.

Once they know you, they're the softest cats in the house, shameless about belly rubs, and extremely yours. At night, settled on the bed, either of them can be scooped up without complaint. Neither has ever met a food they didn't like.

By day they're their own cats. Every night they're yours. And they're still getting braver, so whoever takes them home gets to find out how far this goes.

What White Paws and Marie are looking for in a home:

- They want to stay together forever and must be adopted as a pair.
- They can get nervous, so they need a kind and patient guide to help them feel comfortable with new experiences.
- They need to live indoors only.
- They have a positive history with other cats and may like having a feline friend close to their age.
- They have a positive history with children.
- They have no known history with dogs.

All Alley Cat Project’s cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption. Consistent with Association of Shelter Veterinarians (ASV) guidelines, ACP follows current shelter medicine practices and does not routinely test every healthy, low-risk cat for FIV and FeLV.

Alley Cat Project adoption fees are:
- $200 per cat or kitten
- $350 for pair of cats or kittens
- $50 for senior cat (over 8 years old)
- Flexible reduced fees for a cat with a chronic medical condition that requires ongoing care
- Adjustable fee upon request for adopters who are low income, and seniors, disabled, or others with fixed incomes.
- Additional charitable donations are appreciated and support our overall rescue efforts

Thank you for your interest in White Paws and Marie! If your household fits the above criteria, you can apply to adopt them by filling out this questionnaire: https://alleycatproject.org/adopt

Only applicants who complete the questionnaire will be considered. Please do not submit an inquiry through Petfinder, as it will not replace the questionnaire and we will not respond. Many of our cats receive numerous applications, and we thank you for your patience while we review applications and find the best match.
