WESTON's Story
A company who cleans rental houses, recently entered a vacated house to get it ready for new occupants. They found several live cats shut in the house, which of course scattered in fear. Over the course of the next few days, they had found and trapped many of them. Faithful to Felines took several cats that came from that house.
WESTON has gone through a lot in his young life- first a home with too many cats to have received any individual attention, to being abandoned for days. Then he was trapped and brought to a shelter, where he spent most of his time hiding inside a kitty box in the room. With KaMala's (who has a strong mama instinct), encouragement, he eventually was out more and more and loving attention and belly rubs. His sweet nature and inquisitive little face soon found him a new family and he was recently adopted. But another move was too scary, and he retreated into a safe space deep under a bed. He may eventually have come out, but his refusal to eat or drink or come out to use his litter box for a week worried them. He was also terrified every time they had to clean under the bed. It was just too overwhelming for everyone. So WESTON is back in his room and has retreated to his old safety space, but he comes out to eat, drink, and use the box. He still loves having his face petted! And his "foster mom" KaMala is once again working on getting him to come back out.
WESTON enjoyed playing with the children who visit with volunteers; however, children should be old enough to understand what soft pets and no squeezing hugs mean. Because of his shy, nervous nature, he may do best with older children who understand he needs time to adjust to a new family and home. Or in a quiet home without much chaos.
WESTON will need a very patient person/family who can give him time and space. Perhaps a room without a bed or anything he can crawl under would be best but maybe has a cat tree and a comfy cat bed that he can call his own, and some toys. He is treat-motivated, so maybe he would respond if the new guardian could sit in the room and talk to him, offering yummy bribes (treats), and let him come when he is ready. Maybe you are the one who has the room and the patience needed to be able to give him back his trust! And if you do have the room and are interested in a second kitty, even though they are not "bonded", WESTON does love KaMala and she is a sweetheart!

DOB-04/2024 Entered Shelter-04/2025

If you would like to adopt WESTON, please visit the shelter during Adoption Hours, Monday & Wednesdays, 4:00pm-7:00pm, Saturdays, 10:00am-1:00pm or call 231-773-3030 for an appointment.
