How Our Adoption Process Works Step 1: Start with the Adoption Application The first step is to complete our https://12inchtails.com/adopt Important: Once completed, email your application to 12inchtails@gmail.com so we can review it promptly and move forward. Step 2: Reference and Background Checks To ensure every pet’s safety, we carefully review all applications, which includes: - Veterinarian Check: If you have (or had) pets, we’ll contact your vet to confirm their care history. - Landlord Approval: If you rent, we’ll verify that pets are allowed in your residence. - Personal References: We’ll reach out to the references you provide to get a better sense of your experience with animals and your readiness to adopt. Step 3: Meet and Greet Once your application is approved, we’ll set up a meet-and-greet with the pet you’re interested in. Step 4: Health Records Review We believe in full transparency. We’ll share the pet’s complete medical history, including vaccinations, spay/neuter status, and any treatments they’ve received. Step 5: Home Visit (if required) In special cases—like pets with unique needs—we may schedule a home visit to ensure the environment is safe and supportive. Step 6: Adoption Counseling Our team is here to answer questions, provide tips, and ensure you feel confident about bringing your new pet home. Step 7: Sign the Adoption Agreement When it’s a perfect match, we’ll finalize the adoption with an agreement that outlines the commitment to care for your new furry family member. Step 8: Adoption Fee The adoption fee helps cover the cost of medical care, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, and more—giving your new pet the best start in life. Step 9: Stay Connected and Supported Adoption is just the beginning! We love seeing updates from our adopters and are always here to answer questions or provide support. Why Adopt from 12 Inch Tails?
