Vetra's Story
*special note: This cat is from a hoarding situation. They will likely need time to adjust to home life. They have lived with many other cats but may have not experienced socialization with people and things like petting and large open spaces are overwhelming for them. Adopters should be willing to be patient during this process. Sequestering a cat in one small room for 2-4 weeks can be very helpful and gives the cat a safe place to call their own. It is important to let them go at their own pace with building a relationship with their new family and limiting lots of commotion and visitors in the beginning is wise. They may have not experienced life outside of the hoarding situation, so things could be overwhelming for them at first. Patience and positive interactions are crucial. Aversive methods of training should be avoided. Using treats, play and enrichment to build trust and teach new things is the way to go! All cats are of course unique and the time in which they each warm up to people and places is just as unique as they are.

My Friends at Wayside say:
-I am a social eater
-I love treats of ALL kinds!
-I enjoy watching videos
-I enjoy mentally stimulating activities
-I’m a graduate of Wayside’s TABBY program
-I’m shy at first but full of love!
-I enjoy being independent

My home preferences (Restrictions):
-I would like a quiet home environment
-I will need extra time to warm up in a home
-Children in the home must be 6 and older
-I will need a cat savvy adopter
-I will require regular grooming

Hello, I’m Vetra!

I’m a 6-year-old longhaired lady with a gentle heart and a quiet soul. I came from a hoarding situation, so the big, busy world can feel a little overwhelming at first. I like to take my time getting to know new people and places, but if you’re patient with me, you’ll start to see just how much love I have to give.

I’m a proud graduate of the TABBY program (To Achieve Best Behavior Yet), and I’ve worked hard to build my confidence. I may be shy when we first meet, but I promise there’s a sweet, affectionate girl underneath it all, just waiting to feel safe enough to shine.

I’m a bit of an independent spirit. I enjoy doing my own thing and having my own space, but I also appreciate quiet companionship. I’m a social eater, so I like having someone nearby while I enjoy my meals (especially since I love all treats...seriously, I won’t say no!). One of my favorite pastimes is watching bird videos! I find them to be endlessly fascinating, and they make me feel connected to the outside world.

A calm, quiet home with a cat-savvy adopter would be perfect for me. I’ll need a little extra time to settle in, but with patience and understanding, I know I’ll blossom into a loyal and loving companion. So, If you’re someone who believes the best relationships are built slowly and thoughtfully, I think we could be a purrfect match.

Love, Vetra
