Are you that rare person or family who would love to welcome into your home a cat with special veterinary needs? Meet Velvet! She is a 3 year old sassy and sweet mini panther.

She was an outdoor cat when the nice lady who fed her noticed she was getting heavier and sure enough, Velvet was pregnant! She had two kittens in March 2020 and was an excellent mother.

Velvet was adopted but later returned, through no fault of her own. It was discovered that she has stomatitis, a painful condition in the mouth. Velvet has received veterinary care and is now doing so much better! She doesn’t require any medical care for this condition currently, but she may need to be on medication or have some teeth pulled in the future. She will definitely need a minimum of twice-yearly vet check ups.

Otherwise, she is healthy, spayed, combo tested (negative) and vaccinated.

In spite of what she’s been through, Velvet loves people! She is very affectionate and loves to be petted. She also likes batting around toy mice and popping in and out of her cat tunnel. She likes small, stuffed animals that she can carry in her mouth and sometimes present them to you as a gift. She don’t scratch the furniture!

We are working on getting her to be more accepting of other cats and kittens but at this point, she would love to be the only cat in the house.

To our knowledge, she has never been around dogs. Velvet would do well with older children who are calm and gentle. A quiet home would be best for her, where she can stretch out on the back of a couch and nap in the sun. We can all get on board with that!
