She had him neutered and continued watching over him, making sure he always had food, flea control, and any care he needed. But the more she got to know him, the more obvious it became, this sweet boy was simply too gentle for life outdoors.<br/><br/>Once inside, Van showed everyone who he really is—a total love bug. He is affectionate, loyal, passive, and incredibly loving. He will happily curl up on your lap, purr, follow you around the house, and keep you company. He also makes the cutest little chirps and has a funny, almost musical meow that sounds like hes singing to you.<br/><br/>Van especially loves other cats. He is gentle and friendly with them and genuinely seems to want a feline companion. We think he would be a wonderful choice for someone looking for a friend for an existing cat.<br/><br/>Van is happy living indoors, but loves a window to stare out of and smell the fresh air. <br/><br/>His foster noticed that Van generally chooses not to jump onto things, so she had full-body X-rays done to make sure everything was okay. He is healthy, but the X-rays showed some arthritis in both front elbows, likely something he has had since birth. The vet estimated him to be between four and five years old. Because jumping down can be uncomfortable, he simply prefers to keep all four paws closer to the ground. His foster is starting him on omega-3 supplements to help support his joints and reduce inflammation.<br/><br/>Van also loves his food and has wonderfully clean eating habits.<br/><br/>Most of all, Van is just a kind soul. He doesnt need to be the center of attention—he simply wants a safe home, a warm lap, a feline friend, and a person to follow around and love.<br/><br/>For someone looking for a calm, affectionate adult cat who will be a loyal companion, Van has so much love to give.<br/><br/>The first step in our adoption process is the application which can be found on our website lapcats.org.<br/><br/>All of our cats have tested negative for FELV and are vaccinated. If they have been rescued as kittens under 4 months, they will not have a rabies vaccine. They have not only been spayed or neutered but have also been treated for worms, fleas, and have been micro chipped. <br/><br/>We will register their microchip for you, provide you with a free exam visit to a participating Sacramento veterinarian, and a goodie bag! We do not do out of state adoptions for the safety of our cats.
