Valentine's Story

Hi there! My name is Valentine. I’m about 2 years old but I never really got to be a cat before these people rescued me. You see I came from a horrible hoarding case, words can’t even describe how bad it was. I wasn’t used to people being kind to me, or having a consistent meal, or anything like that. I was so scared of life at first! But with some time and kitty friends (I’ve always loved other kitties) I realized life isn’t half bad!

What do I do now with all my free time? I love to sunbathe and play with toys (I’ll chase the string toy around for ages). I LOVE to eat, but my favorite thing to do is be with my friends!! I go back and forth between my foster mom (for pets and treats) and my kitty friends so I can rub on them for support and love. Lately I’ve even gotten SO comfortable with my foster momma I’ll jump in bed with her and cuddle on her lap while I purr and make biscuits. I’m still nervous about her putting me in the bed herself, but i don’t mind it if I choose to come on my own!

Even when other kitties don’t want to be my friend and smack me in the face, I still want to be theirs! I’m the best friend a cat could ever want - I’m like Velcro to them. If your cat is lonely and wants a bestie, sign me up!! If you give me a little time to adjust we’ll be a very happy family. I also don’t even mind big stinky dogs! My foster momma has a boxer and as you can see I still cuddle on her lap by him while we watch TV.

United Paws Rescue Inc's Adoption Policy
First we make sure that the adopter is a proper match for the cat, through conversations with their foster parent and/or a meet and greet. We are very careful to match the personality of the cat with the personality of all other humans and animals in the home to ensure a smooth transition for both the cat and the adopters. Then, the adopter fills out the application- if they pass the home and vet checks they proceed to a short phone interview. If approved, they pay their adoption fee and can take the kitty home that same day.
