They will likely need time to adjust to home life. They have lived with many other cats but may have not experienced socialization with people and things like petting and large open spaces are overwhelming for them. Adopters should be willing to be patient during this process. Sequestering a cat in one small room for 2-4 weeks can be very helpful and gives the cat a safe place to call their own. It is important to let them go at their own pace with building a relationship with their new family and limiting lots of commotion and visitors in the beginning is wise. They may have not experienced life outside of the hoarding situation, so things could be overwhelming for them at first. Patience and positive interactions are crucial. Aversive methods of training should be avoided. Using treats, play and enrichment to build trust and teach new things is the way to go! All cats are of course unique and the time in which they each warm up to people and places is just as unique as they are.

Hi, I’m Udina!

I’m a 3-year-old longhaired lady with a soft coat and an even softer heart. I came from a hoarding situation, so the world can feel a little big and overwhelming at first. Because of that, I can be shy when we first meet, but there’s so much love inside me just waiting to shine through.

I’m proud to be a graduate of the TABBY (To Achieve Best Behavior Yet) program, which means I’ve been working hard on building my confidence and learning how to feel safe and comfortable. I may need some extra time to settle into a new home, but with patience and understanding, I’ll get there.

Once I feel secure, you’ll see that I’m the perfect mix of social and independent. I enjoy spending time with my people, especially when we can just hang out quietly together. I’m also a bit of an entertainer; I love watching videos (yes, really!) and I’m a social eater, which means I feel more comfortable dining when I’ve got company nearby.

Because of my sensitive nature, I’m looking for a quiet home with kiddos ages 6 and up, and an adopter who understands cats like me and can go at my pace. Oh! and since I’m such a fluffy girl, I’ll need regular grooming to keep me looking and feeling my best!

If you’re patient, kind, and ready to help me continue my journey, I promise to be a gentle, loving companion in return!

Love, Udina
