Truffle's Story

Truffle is a domestic short haired, dark brown tabby, neutered male kitten with an estimated date of birth of Sept. 7, 2025. Truffle is the brother to Oreo, Rolo and Toffee.

Truffle and 4 siblings, along with their mom Mia, were removed from a rural area in Becker County, MN south of Detroit Lake at approximately 2 weeks of age. Sadly, one littermate had been attacked by a predator, and was still alive when rescued, but died shortly afterwards from her injuries. Their mom was in the process of moving her kittens to another location, and more than likely the other 4 siblings would have met the same fate had this cat family not been rescued. In addition, had the person who did rescue and remove this cat family had been allowed onto the property when first contacted, that sibling would probably still be alive.

Attacks from predators are a harsh reality to vulnerable kittens born outdoors who also face temperature extremes, disease, starvation, collisions with motor vehicles and cruel humans. Such suffering would be drastically reduced if people spayed and neutered their pets and kept them on their property. If you are going to feed outdoor cats then you should take the responsibility of getting them fixed / desexed.

Truffle looks very similar to his brother Rolo except that Truffle has a white "bandana" spot on his neck, and a white marking in the shape of a capital letter "T" on his belly between his front legs. Truffle is a typical male kitten who is all rough and tumble in his play. He enjoys wrestling with his siblings, and climbing his foster mom like a tree to chew on her hair.

Truffle can be adopted with one of his siblings, or go to a home with another young, playful and friendly cat. Kittens this age do better when adopted as pairs as they will grow into adults with fewer undesirable behaviors like biting and destructive behaviors.

Neutered; current on vaccinations including rabies; feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus negative; dewormed; microchipped; and litter box trained.

Far North Feline Rescue's Adoption Policy
Initial contact is usually made via email. Potential adopters are asked to provide basic information such as if they rent or own their residence; have any other pets in the household; have any children in the household; and if they are an established client with a veterinary clinic. Answers to these questions help us determine the best fit for them among the cats available for adoption. Then a meet and greet is set up for that cat in the foster home where more questions can be asked, and the adopter and cat interaction can be observed. Our adoption process is NOT that the first one to contact us is the one who gets to adopt the kitten/cat, and that can be difficult for certain potential adopters to accept. Our goal is to put the kitten or cat in the right home the first time. We allow for a 2 week trial period and the cat or kitten can then be returned to us without judgment and the adoption fee refunded.
