Handsome, fluffy and ready to find his forever family, Troy is a kitten with a lot of love to give! Troy and his sister, Tessa, were surrendered to ARF in mid-July. Since arriving, Troy has been getting ready for the next chapter of his life. He has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Now this sweet boy is ready to trade shelter life for a loving home of his own.<br/><br/>Don't overlook the black cats!<br/>Black cats and dogs are sometimes overlooked in shelters, with adopters passing them by in favor of animals with more distinctive or colorful markings. But a black coat doesn't mean less personality, less affection, or less fun. And Troy is ready to prove just how wonderful a black cat can be!<br/><br/>Black cats have also been surrounded by plenty of positive lore and legends throughout history. In some cultures, black cats are considered symbols of good luck, prosperity, protection, and good fortune. Sailors once welcomed black cats aboard ships because they were believed to bring good luck and protect the crew. In Japan, black cats have been associated with good fortune and in some traditions, having a black cat cross your path is considered a lucky sign.<br/><br/>So perhaps Troy is your good-luck charm waiting to come home! <br/><br/>A little extra fluff = a little extra care<br/>Troy's beautiful medium-length coat gives him an extra dose of adorable, but his fluffy fur does come with a grooming commitment. His adopter should be prepared to brush him regularly to keep his coat looking its best and to prevent tangles and mats from forming. Regular brushing can also be a wonderful way to build trust and create a special bonding routine between Troy and his new person.<br/><br/>Troy arrived at ARF alongside his sister, Tessa. They do not have to be adopted together, but we always like to let potential adopters know when littermates arrive together in case someone is interested in keeping siblings together in their forever home.<br/><br/>Whether Troy finds his forever family with Tessa or starts a new adventure all his own, this handsome guy is hoping someone will see the wonderful companion waiting underneath all that beautiful fluff.<br/><br/>The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com.
