Trixie's Story

Trixie is a sweet, gentle one-year-old cat with a heart full of love—she's just waiting for the right person to share it with. Trixie spent her initial time with AHS recovering from an accident where her pelvis was fractured but has now recovered wonderfully. At first, she can be a little shy, but once she feels safe, her playful and affectionate side shines through along with her adorable little chirps. Trixie loves chasing feather and string/wand toys, and curling up in cozy window spots where she can watch the world go by. She's quiet and curious, the kind of companion who will bring calm and joy to your home. She'd do best in a peaceful environment with patient adopters who will give her time to warm up and show her true personality. Once she trusts you, she'll reward you with soft purrs, and lots of love. She likes other cats as well! Alternative Humane Society of Whatcom County's Adoption Policy

AHS does not do same-day adoptions. We provide a form called a “Statement of Interest” for potential adopters to fill out. When completed, this form is reviewed by an AHS volunteer (the animal’s Case Manager) who will contact any potential adopter with any additional questions and arrange a meeting if it looks like a good match. The potential adopter usually hears back from a volunteer within 1-2 weeks. The case manager will only be contacting SOI that our might be a good fit and will arrange a meet and greet. Adoption fees for DOGS are: Puppies (up to age 18 months): $425 (plus $200spay/neuter deposit for puppies that are not spayed or neutered at time of adoption)Cash only Adults (18 months - 8 years old): $350 Seniors (8 years and up): $225 Adoption fees for CATS are: Kittens (up to 6 months): $200 Young Adult cats (7 months -3 years) $175 Adult cats (4-7 years): $150 Senior Cats (8+ years) $100 Adoption fees include: Basic shots, spay/neuter, and microchip on dogs and cats (except puppies under 6 months of age). All cats are FIV/FELV tested.
