Trip (Buddy) & Lovey's Story

BUDDY (TRIP) AND LOVEY…A TALE OF TWO KITTIES…WAITING FOR THEIR HAPPILY EVERY AFTER

I’m their foster Mom and here is a little update since their most recent posting.
Here is how their tale began…
Buddy was actually rescued when he was about 2/3 months old last summer. He escaped from the catio and made his way back to the home where he was being fed on the other side of town. The kind woman soon realized he returned to be with his sister. And that’s why his rescuers named him Trip.
Buddy is continuing to be a big snuggle puss and an easy going sweet boy. His purrs often sound like a mixture of purring and trilling. We call him the “Purr-minator”. One of his favourite snuggle times is right after he eats and when his foster Mom is trying to type descriptions of them…lol He enjoys scouting for the chipmunks outside the window. And Lovey is often on bug patrol.
The tunnels, wand toys and foam balls continue to be favourites and they are currently enjoying their “empty box”.
Buddy is amazing at balancing on his hind legs going for a wand toy. When he’s being super affectionate, he gives great nose to nose kisses too. But then he thinks my nose is edible…lol
On a few occasions, we have discovered soaking wet catnip mice in their room. Seems they’re enjoying dunking them in their water dishes and then playing with them because we find them many feet away.
Lovey has come such a long way. I always sit on the floor in their room. She is right beside me, rubbing against me and arching her back to show me she wants attention. She loves pets and I have even brushed her a few times. I have been luring her on to my lap with treats. She feels quite comfortable stepping on my lap and then exits once she eats it. Just recently, she stepped on my lap without any food enticement and sat for a few seconds! Huge moments for her! She has also made biscuits on my leg as she sat beside me. I do the finger boop on her nose all of the time. And for the first time, she recently pushed her cheek into my finger. We’re sure we heard her first little meow too. It’s these little moments that mean so much and melt my heart!
She is quite the foodie and often eats faster than her brother. Then she goes to his dish and they take turns eating the last few bits. We have never seen them get upset with each other. They get along so well.
I haven’t picked her up yet and I don’t want to force it. I often gently touch all 4 feet and she doesn’t mind it. When I pet her as she’s standing, I often bring my hands gently around her tummy. I’m trying to get her used to being touched everywhere. I don’t spend hours and hours with her. Whether it’s a quick 15 minute visit or longer, numerous times a day, I repeat the nose boops, pet and play with her.
A friend met them recently. When we entered their room, Buddy went into a tunnel and Lovey stayed on the chair where they were napping together. This was a big milestone because she showed us she is feeling safer. Both cats have only been around me and my husband so it will take time for them to adjust to new people. They were very shy with us at first too, having never been touched by anyone. Buddy was faster to get there but now Lovey isn’t too far behind. She watches Buddy and sees that he trusts us. I keep a diary of their progress.
It’s a joy to watch Lovey open up a little more each day. It is the kind of magic that reminds you why rescue matters. If you’re someone who finds joy in the quiet wins and patient love, this sweet girl might be one of your soul mates. And of course, Buddy will be your other one.
Lovey is still learning that hands can mean love and not fear. She has made such great strides already and we can’t wait to hear how well she thrives in a calm home with someone who understands.
With the amazing strides these bonded cuties have made these past few months, we have no doubt they are going to continue to thrive and evolve to be wonderful life long best friends and companions for a loving person or family.

They are spayed and neutered, have age appropriate shots and are microchipped. Adoption Fee : $300 for bonded pair

If you are interested in adopting please apply here: https://chcrrescue.ca/adoption-application/
