Tommy's Story

Meet Tommy, a handome former tomcat from the streets of the Bronx. Since his give name is uninspired, the team of vets, vet techs, and volunteers who have been caring for him the past few months have built him a long list of nicknames: Tommy Pickles, TomTom, T-Money, T-Port, or T-Pain to name a few.

Tommy was found emaciated and frostbitten in a cemetary in the Bronx this winter and brought to a local vet clinic for treatment. Since he had no home, the vet staff took him and got him into tip top shape. He's finally ready for a forever home so let us tell you all about him.

Tommy loves people and will follow you from room to room. He will seek affection and loves pets and gentle scritches. If his displeased. he'll let you know with a hiss or claw-less bop and then go about his business.

He's well adjusted to being an office cat and lounging in the halls or on the desk while the humans are busy at work. He's bounced around from foster home to boarding at two different vet clinics but seems to have a nack for finding the comfiest place no matter where he is.

He LOVES to eat. Since he has no teeth and has a bit of a sensitive jaw and can only eat wet food (or tiny bits of bacon egg and cheese when no ones looking ).

Tommy would do best on a home without small children. He is incredibly social and yet is a very independent cat - the best of both worlds. He gives very clear signs when he wants to be left alone and will thrive in a cat savvy and boundary respecting home.

Tommy is FIV positive likely from his time as an unneutered tomcat running the streets. Those days are over now that he is neutered will need to live a life fully indoors. FIV is non transmissible to humans and is only transmissible to cats through deep bite wounds. Luckily, Tommy has no teeth left so it's next to impossible for him to transmit FIV. He would be great as a solo cat or in a home with a non confrontational cat with a well controlled introduction. He has a distaste for dogs and bold cats and overall just wants quiet, respect, and comfort.

Tommy is up to date on shots, dewormed, FeLV negative, microchipped, and neutered. Tommy recently had a dental and had all his teeth removed. He is currently on Solensia (a monthly injection) to manage his chronic pain from his previous frost bite, dental disease, and joint pain. Moving forward he will need someone to monitor him for signs of pain along with their vet to make sure it is adequately managed.

Please apply using the following instructions if you are interested in adopting one of our Waggytails: Visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application.
