Tommy's Story
See Courtesy Posting Disclaimer *
Tommy (the tabby with the white face, chest, paws) showed up at my house one morning, meowing and wanting food. He was friendly and hungry--I had never seen him in the neighborhood before. After a few days, Jesse also showed up. He too was hungry, definitely not feral, but much shyer than Kitty #1. After a few days, he would come when I opened the door for food time, and rub against my legs. Neither of these kitties was skinny, so I suspect the family in our neighborhood who had just moved away might have been feeding them. They both appear to be under 2 years old.
I think they are brothers because they have been close since they have been here. Sleeping together, playing together, and not trying to get each other's food. It is hoped they can be fostered or adopted together since they seem quite bonded. My neighbor has a cat who is here fairly often, and these 2 kitties seemed to get to along with her; this cat is much larger than either of these 2, but has not ever bothered them, nor have they bothered or attacked her.
They have both been neutered, had their shots and tested negative for FIV. They are now indoor kitties and are doing well. Currently they are in my basement and need a foster home as soon as possible or adopted if possible, again together if possible. They have received Revolution for flea control, though I have not seen any on either kitty. Their beds, litter boxes, an electric pet-watering fountain, and food dishes will be provided.
Tommy is still very happy to be petted (and fed), though Jesse is still not quite sure about being held. Being around people most of the time should help them overcome any reluctance to be petted and to be the perfect house kitties. They do allow me to kiss the tops of their heads--a good thing for a kitty guardian!
They will need some patience and some time. Jesse has been microchipped and Tommy will be before anyone adopts them. A donation to SARG for their help in getting these kitties protected is the only financial requirement needed.
Please call or text Mary Sullivan at 865-335-1699 if you are interested in meeting these sweet little boys.
