Tommy's Story
Hi. My name is Tommy, and I'm working on something.

I was born on March 25, 2024, to a feral mama — which means I came into this world with a little extra caution built right in. The humane society became my home from the very beginning, and over time I figured out something important: people, it turns out, are actually pretty great. I discovered that being petted felt wonderful. I just hadn't quite gotten brave enough to ask for it myself. But I was getting there.

Then, in March 2026, everything changed. I was transferred to a rescue foster home, and I won't pretend that was easy. The humane society was the only world I'd ever known — every smell, every sound, every familiar face. Starting over is a lot for a guy like me.

So right now? I hide when people are around. I'll be upfront about that. But here's what I want you to know: hiding isn't the whole story. When I feel safe — really safe — I find my spot at the window and watch the world outside with the quiet wonder of someone who still finds it all pretty interesting. That cat is still in there. He's just waiting for the right moment to come out.

I was wonderful with other cats at the humane society, and I'll need feline friends in my new home too — cats who can model that whole "humans are fine, actually" thing and help me feel settled and confident. I've seen it work before. I know it can again.

I need an adult-only home with someone who understands that patience here isn't just a virtue — it's the whole foundation. Someone who won't take the hiding personally, who will let me set the pace, and who will absolutely light up the first time I creep out from my hiding spot and tentatively ask for a pet.

That moment is coming. I can feel it.

I just need someone willing to wait for it with me.

— Tommy

--
Our adoption fee includes spay/neuter and microchipping for all animals. Our adoption fee is $300 per cat.

All have had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer and treated for fleas and ear mites if needed. All cats are tested for FeLV/FIV at six months of age. If you are interested in meeting this cat, please fill out an application on our website!

https://www.therescuepack.org/cat-adoption-application
