He loves toys and can happily entertain himself batting them around, chasing them, and showing off his playful side like a much younger cat. Beneath that independent streak is a cat who does like people — he’s just still learning that life can be safe, predictable, and kind.<br/><br/>Toby came from a difficult situation where he experienced food insecurity, was only fed leftover human food, did not have access to a clean litter box, and finally was removed from the home along with the other animals. Because of that, some of his behaviours make sense — he can be very food-focused, especially around kibble, and will need consistency, patience, and understanding as he continues to adjust. Toby has made meaningful progress in foster care and deserves a home that will continue helping him thrive. He’ll do best with an experienced adopter who understands that trust takes time and that some cats need clear routines and space to settle.<br/><br/>Toby is looking for a calm adult-only home where he can be the only pet — no other cats or dogs — so he can feel fully secure and never have to worry about competing for resources again. For the person willing to give him that chance, Toby has so much love, personality, and playfulness still to share
