Tinker the Toothless's Story
Meet Tinker — Your Own Real-Life "Toothless"

Tinker at a glance:
- Location: Milton, FL
- Adoption Fee: $25
- 9 years old, but still spry and athletic
- Neutered male
- Manx mix
- Litter box trained
- Current on Rabies and FVRCP vaccines
- Current on flea prevention
- FIV and FeLV Negative
- Microchipped
- Requires medication? No.
- Requires special food? No.
- Requires special supplements? Recommended, but they cost $8 for 3 months worth.

Tinker is an 9-year-old Manx mix with a darling bobtail, a gentle soul, and the heart of a dragon—your very own Night Fury in cat form. With sleek black fur and a purr that could melt anyone’s heart, Tinker is ready to spend the rest of his life safe, loved, and cuddled up with you. Tinker is ridiculously sweet, loves to be with people, eagerly gives and accepts attention (expect head-butts, nuzzles, purrs galore), adores cuddling and being held (he gives THE BEST hugs), and is happy just to be in your presence. Tinker is an amazing, fun, goofy, and loving cat - he will make an amazing companion for whoever opens their heart and home to Tinker.

Tinker is a "special needs" cat, but his needs are very low maintenance:

- Tinker lived in a home with heavy smoking and now deals with chronic upper respiratory congestion. He usually takes care of this on his own with a sneeze and some grooming, but occasionally needs assistance with a wet wipe. He can also be prone to drooling and/or a runny nose if his upper respiratory issues are triggered by smoke or heavy fragrance. His upper respiratory issues are kept well-managed by adding 500mg of Lysine to his food daily. You can purchase 100, 500 mg capsules of Lysine for around $8 on Amazon.

- Tinker dealt with chronic dental issues and eventually had all of his teeth removed in hopes it would eliminate the Stomatitis. This was done several years ago and was relatively successful. Unfortunately, Tinker still deals with some Pharyngeal Stomatitis (for him, inflammation of the back roof of his mouth and top of the throat). He had only been fed dry food, which was causing trauma to his mouth and a lot of pain, so he had lost quite a bit of weight before he came to us. Although the vet initially put him on daily pain medication, we were able to wean him off of it by simply giving him soft food - wet food and/or softened dry food. He is back to his get recommended weight of around 10 pounds. Tinker is a low-maintenance guy and is happy softened Purina Naturals kibble and Friskies Pate, but he doesn't say no to other brands of food.

Who can Tinker live with?

- Cats:
With proper introduction, Tinker does well with other cats. He is currently housed with two adult cats (one disabled) and an older kitten.

- Dogs:
Tinker does not like dogs. He gets scared around them and wants to jump up somewhere high so they can't get him, then he hisses with his toothless "sock puppet" mouth. We have two senior dogs that are indifferent to the cats and Tinker does fine around them, only getting defensive if they walk his direction (which usually means he is standing by their water dish and they're just thirsty). We also have an adult Chihuahua mix that is slightly smaller than him - he isn't afraid of her, but he doesn't want anything to do with her.

-Children:
While he hasn’t been around children during his time with us, we believe he’d do well with gentle, respectful children. He loves attention and would be happy to be petted while read to, or to snuggle up with them at night. He can be very playful too.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who’s been through the worst and still believes in love—Tinker is your guy. He has so much more life to live, and he's just waiting for a soft bed, a warm lap, and a family all his own.
He has been at a larger rescue for close to 6 months now, receiving his necessary medical treatments and getting healthy. He's now been moved to our little rescue so he can thrive with more one-on-one attention and hopefully have a better chance of getting adopted being closer to Pensacola.
Adopt Tinker and let his second chapter be the best one yet - he has so much love and affection to give!
