Tilly and Smudge's Story

Meet Tilly and Smudge two endearing, fluffy siblings who were found dumped in a ditch. They were found with a huge bag of cat food which was soaked from the rain. They were made ready for adoption and made their way to Second Chance Cats. Eventually they were adopted together as a bonded pair. Sadly, after one year their adopters were having some personal issues which did not allow them to continue to keep Till and Smudge.

It goes without saying, that returning to the shelter is an adjustment. Tilly and Smudge present as a bit shy, trying to adapt to the change of environment and a whole new set of roommates.

They are both gentle and sweet, and have beautiful, fluffy coats. What makes them extra special is the little fur floofs sprouting from their feet! They are adorable!! In their adoptive home, Tilly was known to be more of the affectionate one but here at the shelter Smudge absolutely adores belly rubs. They both like to play especially with a wand toy.

Tilly and Smudge look similar, however, Tilly is a little smaller and has a black spot of fur to the left of her mouth, while Smudge is slightly bigger and has a black "smudge" spot to the right of his mouth. Both cats are good eaters and enjoy their wet food and treats which is a great way to bond with them.

Tilly and Smudge are considered bonded and must be adopted together. Tilly and Smudge will need an adopter willing to be patient while they adjust once again to a new home. The time and effort will be well worth it!

Tilly and Smudge are FIV+ (feline immunodeficiency virus). Cats with FIV still enjoy long, healthy lives, much like cats without the virus. With regular vet check-ups, a balanced diet, and being kept indoors to minimize exposure to other infections, FIV-positive cats can thrive and live just as long as their FIV-negative counterparts. Tilly and Smudge have had no health issues while at Second Chance or in their former adoptive home. FIV cannot be transmitted through shared drinking and eating bowls nor litterboxes. Second Chance has successfully adopted out many loving, FIV kitties who have peacefully co-existed with other kitties here at the shelter.

Tilly and Smudge have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Tilly and Smudge have an approximate date of birth of 07-08-2022. Their adoption fee is $190.

If you are interested in Tilly and Smudge any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.

Please note - we can only adopt to those who live within a one hour drive of Grand Rapids.

Thank you!
