Tigger's Story

Tigger is a large, sweet 15-year-old senior boy that was surrendered to an overcrowded local shelter when his original owner passed away. He was surrendered with his sister, who was quickly adopted. He continued to wait, and he had very little interest, however, until we were able to pull him.

He is extremely sweet with people, but he is anxious and defensive in new environments at first. It takes him a day or two to come around and come out of hiding. It also takes him time to get used to other cats, but he does enjoy being around them once he is used to them. We are unsure of dogs, though he has never showed any aggression towards them through the door or baby gate.

Once he's comfortable in his new space, he absolutely loves to be loved on. He will rub on you and meow for attention. He's also very good at using the litter box and making minimal messes with it. Tigger's favorite thing in the whole world is wet food, and he gets very excited for it every day without fail. He will also let you know when it's time for him to eat, as he has a very good internal clock. Other than when it's time for his daily treat of wet food, he is very quiet and laid back. Curious and explorative at times but mostly calm as a senior should be. He's got plenty of life left in him though! He's not ready to slow down completely yet.

Tigger was recently diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and requires daily medication, which he takes like a champ. This medication is not expensive, but it helps him keep his appetite. His stature is overall very thin due to this condition, but he is currently eating very well! Our rescue will provide 45 days worth of this medication when he is adopted.

Overall, this sweet old man is just looking for a place to retire where he'll be loved on and get to stay until his time is up. He wants a forever companion that will let him curl up on the couch with them and also give him wet food!

He is fixed, vaccinated, and triple tested (negative).

Tigger is located in Lucedale, MS, but he can be transported to the Northeast for the cost of transportation. We use a wonderful transport service called Red Fern Ranch, which can be found on Facebook. He asks for a 175$ transport fee, and he makes stops in the VA, MD, CT, PA, NY, and NJ areas. His van travels out every 2 weeks with the lucky furbabies that find new homes away from the South.
