Tia's Story

Hi, I’m Tia. I’m a 2 year old domestic longhair brown tabby, and while I may be a little underrated at first glance, I am truly gorgeous once you take a second look.

I was originally rescued outside as a lost and likely abandoned pet, and that part of my story still shapes who I am today. I absolutely adore people and love being in their company. I am very social with humans of all ages and have been sweet and gentle even with kids, including a 5 year old who knows how to respect my space. I love cuddling and will always adjust myself to be close to you, whether that means curling up on your lap or settling in nearby.

I am what you might call an excellent office cat. I do not mess with keyboards or screens. I just want to sit on your lap, listen to your voice, and keep you company while you work. I also love being by the window, watching the world go by. One of my favorite things is sitting in a cozy sweater pouch while my person walks around, and when I am feeling extra affectionate, I give the sweetest little head boops right on your face.

I am very playful and enjoy all kinds of toys, but I also have clear boundaries. If I am done being petted, I will try to tell you by swatting or gently nibbling if my signals are not noticed. I am not mean, just honest, and I do best with people who understand cat communication and respect when I ask for a break.

Other animals are hard for me. I am very fearful of other cats and would need a slow, patient introduction if another cat is in the home, though I may also be happiest as your only pet. Dogs are an unknown and would likely be scary for me, so a calm, cat focused home is preferred.

I use the litter box well and prefer a roomy enclosed box so I can have some privacy. I eat Acana indoor cat food, both wet and dry, and my tummy is much happier now that I am on a diet that works for me.

If you are looking for a beautiful, affectionate, people loving girl who wants to be close to you and be your constant companion, I might just be your Tia.

I can be adopted for $120 which includes my Spay, vaccinations, microchips, food and litter starter kit, and a free well-kitty checkup to help you get started.

You can tap here to fill out an Adoption Application - https://happycatshaven.org/adoption-application/
Someone should get back to you during our adoption hours Wednesday – Sunday by 5 pm. If you need to contact someone more quickly, please call 719-362-4600 and we’ll do our best to get back to you within 48 hours.

Happy Cats Haven's Adoption Policy
You are always welcome to come meet our cats and kittens! Filling out an Adoption Application beforehand will save time. Our basic requirements are that all cats be kept inside, except when supervised or outside on a leash (we offer help with leash training!) or in an enclosed catio. We don't support declawing, which is actually amputating toes and can lead to far greater pain and issues than keeping their paws intact. We do support proper training for scratching, from kittens to adults, and will help you choose the equipment your cat likes best. We require a copy of the lease agreement that authorizes cats so that no one is heartbroken later if the cat is not allowed. Bringing that in when you come to meet the cats will also speed up the process. Over 55% of our adoptions go to family and friends, so we always offer our Buddy Discount to bonded pairs or kittens, with the second one at half off. Kittens thrive when they go home with a sibling, so we give preference to pair (or triplet or quadruplet!) adoptions. We also recommend kittens of at least 4 months to families with children under 5, for the safety of the children as well as the kitten. With an approved application, a cat or kitten can be held up to 48 hours with a $50 deposit (sometimes longer in special cases). This deposit isn't refundable but is transferable to another cat if needed.
